that .462 babip is meaty. the answer is nearly always in between.

Too small of a sample size for that... he's been crushing the ball into the outfield with line drives.

If Edmonds keeps hitting the way he has lately, I think I might eventually come around to him wearing Cubbie blue.

I really do like the attitude of Edmonds in this article. Here are a couple of snippets:

"A couple days don't mean anything," Edmonds said. "I don't care or want to talk about it too much. If it doesn't get better, then it's just two days that were good and it's not worth getting all excited about."

He politely refused interview requests for local radio and television stations.

"I don't think people in San Diego want to see my face or hear my voice," Edmonds said. "I think we'll move on from that."

And this last quote about the fans in Chicago:

"I don't listen that much [to the fans]," he said. "I'm used to getting booed in Chicago, being with the Cardinals all those years. It's not really a big deal. I don't try to pretend or care too much about what's going on outside. I just try to do well and be part of the team. Hopefully, I play well enough and they'll accept me."

The boos were pretty loud for Edmonds last night at Petco.

some of the rare sounds of Padres fans

As Bob put it last night, Padres fans are like the San Diego weather forecast: pretty laid back.

Hes saying all the right things, hitting better, and barely making any money off the Cubs. You can't ask for much more from the guy.

Are you sure those weren't Cubs fans? :)

This is moderately amazing. Jim Edmonds current line with the Cubs:

.286 .324 .543 good for a 119 OPS+

Sure, it's a small sample size fueled almost entirely by the past five days or so, but hey... it looks okay.

If you want them to scream just tell them that Taco Bell is real Mexican food.

Oh yeah, and if Edmonds continues to hit reasonably well, Lou will move Fukudome to the 2 hole. Which I think makes our line-up even better, no??

The only way Fukudome makes it to the 2 hole is the collapse of Theriot IMO. Lou seems to really like him in the 2 hole and Fukudome in the 5-6, its gonna take a lot to get him out of that niche.

The longer it takes Theriot's return to his .350-.360 OBP norm the better.

I actually think Theriot is doing a great job at 2. However, I could see him hitting 8 too.

I really like the irony that the Padres are paying Edmonds to help beat them. :D

Isn't even better, then, that the Cards are doing the same?

Are they still? I thought that his contract with the Cardinals only ran through last year and he signed a new contract with the Padres this year. If I'm wrong and this is still the contract he signed with the Cardinals, then yes, that is even sweeter.

Signed as a free agent 5/14/08 (Chicago pays pro-rated portion of $0.39M ML minimum - about $0.29M - with SD paying about $5.71M and St. Louis paying $2M)

That totals, roughly, the $8 mil he's due this season per the two-year extension he signed with the Cards following 2006.

What confused me was that I forgot he was traded by the Cardinals to the Padres; for some reason I was thinking he signed as a free agent. I didn't pay much attention at the time.

that .462 babip is meaty. the answer is nearly always in between.

It's only .290 since he became a cub, and off of a 16.1% LD%.

You'd expect him to have 8.7 (Hits - HR). He has 9.

I know, right? Hendry should definitely try to sell high right now.
