I love the depth of knowledge that board members have. I haven't seen a top 10 Cubs prospect list for a while. Has there been any massive changes since the start of the season? Who would replace Soto and Gallagher? Here is the preseason top 10 from Baseball America:

1. Josh Vitters, 3b

2. Geovany Soto, c/1b

3. Tyler Colvin, of

4. Jose Ceda, rhp

5. Sean Gallagher, rhp

6. Donald Veal, lhp

7. Josh Donaldson, c

8. Jeff Samardzija, rhp

9. Tony Thomas, 2b

10. Kevin Hart, rhp

Samardzija is a non-prospect and needs to be dropped, I'd say.

You misspoke. It's Vitters who is the nonprospect. His wrist "tendonitis" is just a smokescreen to limit his plummeting value.

Although he may be close to a nonprospect (I wouldn't go that far quite yet), I highly doubt what you are suggesting.

That said, our top 10 prospect list is depressing.

Hoffy is kicking butt and taking names he should be top 5 or so.

It's really not pretty. Using BA's rules, Gallagher can't come off for another 24 IP.

1. 3B Josh Vitters

2. RHP Sean Gallagher

3. RHP Jose Ceda

4. LHP Donnie Veal

5. RHP Robert Hernandez

6. OF Tyler Colvin

7. RHP Dae-Eun Rhee

8. RHP Kevin Hart

9. C Josh Donaldson

10. LHP James Russell

11. 2B Eric Patterson (for when Gallagher comes off this list)

Tough to keep Tony Thomas off the list if he decides to start swinging the bat.

Since Gallagher's seen a good amount of action in the majors, I'm going to keep him off my list. That also applies to guys like Pie and Hart. With that out of the way...

2) OF Tyler Colvin

3) LHP Donnie Veal

Man...the draft and short season ball can't come fast enough for this system. The results so far have been really disappointing. I'd have a hell of a time making this list if it were Top 20 or even Top 15.

Wasn't Tim Wilken or whatever his name suppose to bring back the talent to the Cubs farm system? Otherwise,he's done a piss poor job, so far.

I miss John Stockstill.

I know its been a while, and hes likely LONG gone, but what ever happened to that SS we drafted in 2000? He was supposed to be a mega star. Obviously it never worked out for him. Is he at least floating around the AAA circuit still?

Luis Montanez, but I don't think anyone thought he would be a megastar. He is still in Baltimore, suprise suprise a former Cub prospect in Baltimore, I think at AAA.

Thats him. Looks like hes actually on their AA team. Not doing bad for himself down there. I guess its better than nothing

Actually, I think being in AA ball 8 years after being the #3 overall pick is doing VERY bad for himself, regardless of how good his numbers may be this year. Mastering AA ball after 8 years isn't impressive.

By doing well for himself down there, I mean he has decent AA stats. As far as the big picture gos, he was an immnese failure, however, I was just looking over a list of the 2000 draft, and as far as the top 20 gos, Adrian Gonzales and Chase Utley are the only once that made it. Adam Wainwright, Boof Bonser, and to a lesser extent Phil Doumatrait did OK in the 20's.

I would say that Wainwright really made it. Isn't that the Baldelli draft too? He made it before his body gave away on him.
