Along with the wind, of course...

Edmonds said he opened his stance after talking to hitting coach Gerald Perry, reverting to the stance he used successfully for so many years in old Busch Stadium in St. Louis. He changed it in the new Busch, and at Petco Park in San Diego.

"Hopefully that will give me a little more positive feedback," he said. "And we'll see how it goes."

This almost sounds too convenient. He went away from his successful approach right before having his worst year, and he waits till now to go back to his old stance?

Personally, I didn't notice any difference in his stance, but maybe some of you guys did.

I mean, it would be nice if he could rediscover SOMETHING.

I think his major adjustment was hitting with a 15MPH wind at his back.

No kidding.

He had a couple of big hits, but I'm not expecting him to turn it around fulltime.

While the HR was wind-aided, he still hit it to straight away CF....and it got out by plenty. The single and double were both solidly hit balls. Let's not be so cynical about everything. He had a good day at the plate and was instrumental in the win.

and having the pitchers throw him hanging breaking balls.

He should do that more often, I think.

There isn't a place for gay jokes on this board.

It was neither written as, nor intended to be, a "gay" joke.

It was a humorous (to me) way to tie together the rampant rumors about Edmond's sexual orientation, the widening of his stance in the batting box referred to in the title of the thread, and Larry Craig's "wide stance" as an excuse for his actions in the Minneapolis airport bathroom.

But oh well ... I guess that's why I'm not a moderator on this forum.

lol, don't mean to stir up trouble . . . but that's pretty good :)

(I'll leave out your quote from my post, just in case a mod wants it gone too, since it totally makes clear what the [deleted by mod] was all about ;))

I'm going to take credit for Edmonds' performance on Friday. I was in the CF bleachers and when the Cubs took the field in the top of the first I yelled "Try not to suck today, Edmonds" at the top of my lungs. I think he heard me.

It was pointed out on Baseball Tonight that Edmonds didn't get Spring Training this year. I'm considering that a reason for his slow start.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I think it was Edmonds 2nd game with the Cubs and he got banged up a little on a play at 2nd base. He pulled up his pants to get some dirt out or pull up his sock - and his lower leg was all black/blue. Looked like a pretty bad injury. Don't know if any of you have had torn ligaments, muscles, etc. to the point where you have that kind of bruising/discoloration - but it is not fun.

People can make all the excuses they want, but my belief has always been that you don't need spring training to bring up your bat speed.

Edmonds will not have a hit today.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....touche, Edmonds. Touche.

Edmonds will not have TWO hits today.

I do not appreciate being made to look the fool, sir.

Edmonds will not have THREE hits today.

Now please say the Cubs won't win the World Series this year.
