At this point, Im just not seeing enough arguement not to make Marmol the closer.

I agree.

Kerry has hit about half as many guys as Marmol has given up hits.

Is this 4 or 5 blown saves now? He's on pace for some kind of record.

Marmol for closer please. Let's see what Wood can do in the 7th and 8th for a while.

It's 4 and his first in 7 tries. It's also nowhere near any sort of record.

Marmol would be better used as a high leverage fireman than just as the 8th inning setup guy...but that's still better than having him pitch the 9th only.

Considering Wood was facing what should have been a relatively easy lineup of Chavez-PH-Sanchez, he should have been able to get that without much trouble. Saving Marmol for the 9th would have been really stupid, considering he faced better hitters than Wood.

The answer is still for Marmol and Wood to split close role.

Marmol for 1-run leads and Wood for 2-3 run leads.

The answer is to not have a closer role at all. Put pitchers in the best situations to get hitters out. Who cares who "closes out" the game?
