I voted DH, but defensive indifference is pretty dumb too. It's almost like saying an IBB shouldn't be a walk because the pitcher really didn't care. The automatic triple rule is more weird than bad.

I dont know if youd call it a rule, but the win/loss system kind of gets me sometimes. A pitcher can go 4 solid innings and not et a win, but a guys can come in, blow any sized lead, and if the team regains the lead their half, that guy ets the win.

I went with the DH because it represents a major difference between the leagues when baseball is trying to eliminate differences (such as eliminating the league president positions several years ago). I also thing the defensive indifference and save rules are stupid.

I went with pitcher's error counting as an unearned run. That seems a bit contradictory.

I don't think so. ERA is a statistic used to gauge a player's effectiveness as a pitcher, not as a fielder.

That's an excellent point.

I am always annoyed to no end when I watch a game that has an unearned run because the pitcher made an error. I think of ERA as an overall gauge to how good the pitcher is and the pitcher's fielding ability is part of that. The part I hate the most is a majority of fans who look at the boxscore will think the pitcher got screwed by the guys behind him because a lot of people don't look to see who committed the error. I saw a Ball State game either this year or last where the pitcher made two errors that allowed 4 or 5 runs. However his stat line for the game was 5 innings 0 ER. That's not right.

Maybe the public at large should grab onto a new stat that accounts for this like ERAE. Earned run average + errors or something like that. It would be similar to the OBP for hitters.

Get rid of the dh, expand the every day roster to 27 and make the 40 man roster 43. Add a 5 day DL for position players only. Rework the rules for options and waivers. Either get rid of inter-league play, or make it part of evening up the leagues: 29/29, odd team out that week from each league play each other. Best record at end of season gets home field for play offs. Just minor tweaks....

I'm glad I read the thread before voting. This is easily the single most [expletive] rule in the game, especially considering it's the fans who put the players in the ASG in the first place (which would be a close second-worst rule).

I went with allowing the DH in the AL.

I could never vote for a scoring rule over a game rule, either.

I don't know what you mean by 29/29, but I'm a proponent of the idea of 15 teams in each league, with one interleague matchup going on at all times. I don't see why interleague has to all be at once. I'd like to see something like the NFL's 1st plays 1st, 2nd plays 2nd system, having the WS opponents play a series, perhaps opening week.

29/29?

It was before my coffee, so sorry, but somebody picked me up. 15 and 15. Was what I really meant. Might be kind of fun to go play on a nine game roadtrip 3 NYM, 3 NYY and 3 with the Nats. You play your division rivals 18 games, non divisional intra-league 6 games a piece , and the twenty left would be the "rotational series" 4 three game and 2 four game series. Remember as an alum of the CPS, my math might be a bit off.

This poll should be split between stat related rules and playing rules.

Stats rules: qualifying for a win as mentioned earlier. I especially like when no one pitched enough innings for the win so they give it to whomever they feel deserved it the most. Why don't they do that for every game?

field rules: letting players like Barry Bonds wear a suit of armor to protect them from an injury they had 8 years earlier.
