Might be ok...wish we would have thought of it earlier...too bad we were all gung ho about sticking with the proven vetran Marquis.

To think Hendry tried everything he could to trade Gallagher for a freakin' lead off hitter when we already have one of those. [-(

I don't think it's very smart to judge him on a start against a AAA team. But yes, I do love him.

They are like 4th in the NL in runs scored and doing pretty well when not facing us...

Not that I would call them a powerhouse or anything, but the Pirates are fourth in the league in runs scored/game.

You think Marshall is pissed that he didn't get a shot at the rotation after having pitched well in the major league rotation the past couple years?

Dude, they're like 4th in the league in runs scored.

Okay, now I'll pat myself on the back. I've been saying they will be a pretty mediocre team this year, and not bad. If you don't count their games against us, they're 5 over 500.

He should be. At the very least, he could get spot starters against teams that have trouble with lefties.

Now today's start from Gallagher was an actually good start.

I think Sunday may be Marquis' last chance, but then again, Ive been saying that since last July, so who knows.

What we need is for Hill to be effective and find the zone consistently in his next AAA start and for Marquis to be terrible (but Cubs still win)...

Best case scenario right there.

a cursory look at the stats shows that they're 4th in the NL in runs.

But seriously, Marquis got bombed by a AA team the other day, so this is an improvement

do you think hill is pissed that he was yanked around all over the place this year and then demoted after he was the cubs best pitcher for a 1 1/2 season span?

I hope Gallagher pitches well enough against Houston that he'll be considered heavily for a rotation spot. Then he can join Geo and Kosuke in the Rookie of the Year competition

I just hope Berkman has cooled off somewhat by Wednesday (or by that whole series, for that matter)...

Take away his Twinkies.

i didn't see the game, but it seems like a lot of balls were hit hard - kind of a ryan o'malley-ish start?

Not quite that bad, but yeah he had some BABIP mojo going for him today, especially on line drives.
