Can someone clarify a baseball rule for me?

I thought a wild pitch/passed ball strike 3 is an automatic out if there's someone at first.

Ted Lilly was batting in the 2nd with Reed Johnson at first. Why was he allowed to run to 1st?

I think that doesn't apply with 2 outs.

Yay for random baseball rules!

A lot of strike outs so far, 12.

Props to the person that has Peavy and Lilly starting tonight on his fantasy team.

Then again, those 4 ER can't be helping.

It even looks like Peavy is getting some help from the umps, some interesting outside strike calls

Yea, I couldn't help but notice that strike 1 to ARam last inning looked like it had more of the LH batter's box than the plate.

I'm still up by 0.60 in ERA so I don't really mind as long as it doesn't get too out of hand.

It's like that for similar reasons for the infield fly rule. If there were less than two outs the catcher could drop the ball on purpose and throw to second for one and then to first.

Non-homer mini poll. Better pitcher Peavy or Zambrano? Peavy's always thrown in the conversation of best pitcher in the MLB (along with Webb and Santana), but never Zambrano....why?

Makes sense. The rule actually protects the batter.
