Considering Hill threw less than 30 pitches after not pitching for a week and a half, he better be starting soon.

Don't worry, he'll get his start in 10 days or so.

Should be Cub -Jarrod Parker- owns Peoria this afternoon going 6 shutout innings with 6 K's.

Parker has a 1.31 ERA and 19 K's to 2 BB's in 21 IP so far this year.

Ryan Harvey got his first double of the year off someone besides Clayton Kershaw.

Billy Petrick has started his rehab, he threw 1.2 scoreless innings for Daytona today.

Jose Made is on the Peoria roster and played today, I take that to mean Josh Vitters is now on the DL.

Again, that's speculation on my part.

This from today's Peoria Journal-Star:

Third baseman Josh Vitters is day-to-day with his injured left hand. It is essentially just a matter of being pain free before he plays again. ... Pitcher Dae-Eun Rhee, on the disabled list with tendonitis in his elbow, has started throwing again. He also will return when he is pain free.

Nope not on the DL...just back in Mesa. Left Saturday after the game. He isn't on our roster at all.

And Damn, Jarrod Parker is good...better than Kershaw was this early in the season last year.

my order of preference was wieters then porcello then parker. call it a bias, but i don't want the cubs ever drafting high school hitters in the first round unless it's a player of justin upton/a-rod caliber falling into the end of the first round.

And here is more info from courtesy of Cubs.com:

Josh Vitters, the Cubs' No. 1 Draft pick last season, was sent to extended Spring Training in Mesa, Ariz., to rehab. He injured his left wrist on a swing

One month into the season and Tyler Colvin is hitting .216/.272/.353 with a 29/7 K/BB. He's played 92 games in AA and has 16 doubles, 3 triples and 12 HR. The walk rate has increased this season from non-existent to occasionally, but he's still striking out frequently. Not a great start to the professional career of the former first round pick. He's a couple years older than Pie was at this level, and less likely as Felix to be able to remain in center. Given how quickly Lou and the organization appears to have soured on Pie, I have to wonder what kind of rope Colvin will end up getting.

By the time he gets a shot at the majors Lou and the current regime will almost certainly be gone.

The one thing Colvin has shown is that he can play CF in the majors. It's 100% up to his bat at this point. Disappointing that he still hasn't shown he can hit for average, make contact consistently, take pitches consistently, or hit for power yet.

Next season? I doubt it.

You think he'll get a shot by next season?

I'm thinking 2010 or 2011.

I'm talking about just getting a cup of coffee with a few spot starts, not the opportunity to be an everyday starter. If you're talking about everyday starter, I think you'll be right about 2010 at best. He'll need quite a few repetitions in the high minors if he's ever going to be able to handle offspeed pitches and take some pitches in general.

I'm sure the Cubs will be tempted to call him up when he puts together a hot streak and it matches up with an injury to a big league OF (and I think he will put together a nice little hot streak at some point and time this season a la the hot streak that pushed him up to AA last season despite the glaring holes in his game).
