From ESPN:

It would seem to make a lot of sense, in the aftermath of Alfonso Soriano's injury, for the Cubs to reach out to Kenny Lofton, who could play left in Soriano's place and help balance a very right-handed Chicago lineup. But this doesn't appear to be part of the Cubs' plans.

What would they do with Lofton when Soriano comes back to 2 weeks? Oh, I can answer my own question........Lofton and Johnson platoon in CF while Pie is sent to AAA. Bad suggestion by Olney.

My LF solution is Barry Lamar Bonds. Choice between Barry Bonds and Kenny Lofton? Bonds wins in a landslide.

Where would we play him when Soriano comes back? Other than this I agree. His production would be amazing to our lineup.

Well, the same question would exist if we went out and signed Lofton. In reality, LF is fine as long as Soriano isn't out for longer than a month. And if there was going to be a lenghty absence without Soriano, I'd say Bonds makes the most sense as an outside the organization solution.

And Bonds needs days off anyway.

Can Lofton not play Centerfield anymore?

His arm is Pierre-esque now and his range is compromised as well.

That figures. I would be all for adding Barry to the lineup.

If Johnson wasn't playing great, I would have liked to have Lofton. Yes his arm is terrible, but he can leadoff and get on base in front of the bigs. If Johnson keeps this above and had an OBP above .350, I'd rather stay with him.

Pie is a better option than Lofton.

And if Pie can start rolling offensively , we can prolly tell Peter Gammons to knock off that talk of Crisp to Chicago. Cause Pie/Johnson > Crisp.

San Diego is the team that should be shopping for Coco Crisp. They really screwed up when they picked up Edmonds to play CF. From what I've seen so far, Edmonds looks like he has lost several steps, which doesn't bode well for him when you consider how he positions himself. I've seen balls drop in front of him and balls get over his head.

Yesterday, on a double steal attempt, Josh Bard rifled the ball to 2nd and only because Khalil got a nice bounce did he glove it. What was Edmonds doing on the stolen base attempt? He certainly wasn't backing up the play. If the ball gets by Greene, the guy on 3rd scores easily.

The Padres need Coco Crisp.

How could Edmonds not be able to back up second since he plays 10 steps away from it?
