I'm amazed on how "fit" Aramis is. He looks like he just lost some weight.

And Cedeno is hitting all cylinders now on bases loaded. He's 4-4 so far, after starting 0-11 on bases loaded situations.

The 2 biggest hits in the game came from Ronny and Pie. Thats why I like this team. Everyone contibutes. Guys, this is a good TEAM. Props to Hendry and Lou. Its gonna be a fun summer. =D>

Still concerned about the starting pitching. I don't know how Dempster will fare as a starter. But I like him better as a starter than a reliever. What is pleasantly surprising is the team patience at the plate. Has Lou or Perry been talking with the players about this? I always thought that if the team could be a little more patient, they could really be an offensive force. They are too talented not to be able to put up a bunch of runs. With that said, this team wanted a hot start and got it. I think this will help settle the team down and take away some of the pressure.

Did Soto pull off the ball tonight?

A quick run-through of box scores (counting in my head, so if it's off I apologize):

I came up with 14 innings where the Lee/Ramirez/Fukudome combo led off, 17 runs, coming into today.

Make that 16 innings and 24 runs.

Like people here have already mentioned, watching Pie hit the homerun, and rounding the bases, is why I love baseball. I know baseball is a business, but when you see a young guy like Felix, who had been---for the lack of a stronger word---struggling to even put the bat on the ball, to see him come up and clinch the game with 3 run bomb, it's poetry at it's finest. It's why I still watch baseball from the pros to the little guys (t-ballers). And watching Pie celebrate in the OF with (loud thunderous voice) FUKUDOME and Johnson carrying a smile and youthful exuberance, was simply outstanding. Hopefully this game, will help Pie to "figure it out" as a major leaguer, and he get rolling as a hitter.

And OMIGOD to Ronny Cedeno......Anybody here remember when this guy was as lost at the plate as Felix had been? The maturation of Cedeno, gives me hope that Pie will become a star CF for the Cubs.

The Cubs need Soriano to "Get off the bus" hitting, when he comes off the DL. But my lone concern right now......is getting Lilly and Hill back on track.

Absolutely. Ronny had plenty of stretches where he looked even worse than Felix has at times. If he can put it together, you'd better bet that Felix can too.

After the Gerald Perry-led transformation of this team from the beginning of 2007 to now, I won't rule anything out.

I really hope that if the Cubs keep hitting and playing like this, Soriano won't rush back to action. Or management/Lou won't let him rush back. Even though he prefers to play over sit, which is a phenominal quality, he's gotta learn to listen to his body.

Is he a great player and an integral part of the team? Yes. But if he rushes back just to play at 85% or put himself in line to get hurt worse, it would suck. It's only April.

How bad was the umpiring in this game?

Cedeno beat one out at 1st.

Reyes beat one out at 1st.

Derosa was safe on a force out attempt at 2B.

Soto beat out that swinging bunt at 1st.

Missed balk call with the bases loaded.

Strikezone was different on every pitch.

Don't forget the called strike on the supposed swing by DeRosa when he was just trying to get out of the way.

You know whats awesome?

Watching Fukudome come up in the 8th with runners on first and second and no one out, looking for insurance and KNOWING without a doubt that at the very least you are going to get a good AB out of him. And he does it just about EVERY time.
