Gameday has Soto with four swinging strikes in a row. That's a new one on me.

Remember, we've got Angel Hernandez behind the plate !!!

No kidding. Angel sure did not dissapoint tonight, did he? His zone was inconsistent and all over the place again tonight as usual, not to mention the obvious balk by Heilman. Nice to see the Cubs win despite of Hernandez.

I still remember him umping that crazy game in '01

Ah yes! The Steve McMichael game, who can forget that? You know after that game, I used to think Hernandez just had it out for the Cubs like Eric Gregg did. But after seeing him blow calls and screw up strikezones leaguewide(and watch him throw out Bobby Cox 3 times) I finally realized he is just a terrible ump.

He really is the worst ump I've ever seen in my life.

Tonite we really got to see how bad he is with that ESPN K-Zone. Fukdome got hosed with an outside pitch called a strike during that long at bat, DeRosa got hosed, Early in the game Maine didn't get the same outside corner strike call that Zambrano got when he struck out David Wright. It was outrageous. If there was ever a game for Lou to go nuts on an ump, this was it.

I've seen him call strikes at the shoulders consistently before.

hahaha Zambrano making jokes in the post-game interview.

"what're you doing over there? You japanese, too? You're surprising me?

I was originally going to post that he's ridiculously laid back.

Now quoting "the greatest pitcher in history of baseball, greg maddux" saying that he (maddux) told him one time that he prefers to throw slower with movement and carlos went on to say that He knows that he can throw 95/96 but he doesn't have to.

God that's music to my ears.

Xavier Nady-OF- Pirates Apr. 21 - 9:50 pm et

Xavier Nady finished 2-of-4 with a run scored and two RBI as the Pirates lost to the Cubs on Monday.

Nady doubled, but both runs scored on a bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth. Nady has now hit in nine straight, raising his average to .347 with 17 RBI, but don't expect him to sustain this early season pace.

Guess this belongs here, as evidently the Pirates lose to the cubs even on days they don't play them.

He probably wouldn't shut up for weeks if the Cubs made it that far, haha.

Great stuff to hear from Z. He's on his way to a Cy if he can back it up on the mound.

Some thoughts on tonight's amazing game:

I thought it was really original when ESPN kept bringing up the 100 year thing. I had no idea it had been that long.

I liked when one of the announcers said there was almost no way you could get a double play on Reyes, then on the next pitch, Reyes hit into a double play.

Zambrano really looks like he's back to being an ace.

Fukudome's 8th inning AB was really good.

Ronny Cedeno and Felix Pie= love

Also, I like how they showed the Alou foul territory play where the fan knocked the ball down. I've never seen that before. When did that happen?

I haven't been this excited watching an April game since the Barrett grand slam game in 06.

Might have something to do with the fact that both were on ESPN (I hate the announcers but I love the visuals/production so much). Either way, awesome.

The only difference is this team is WAYYYYYYY better.

If anyone finds a pic of Pie grinning after his homer, I want it for my sig.

For real. That reaction needs to be documented. His fist pump around first was priceless.
