Everyone's fighting over headlines. cbs.sportsline.com and espn.com both used "Garden Party", Yahoo and Sporting News both used Boston Massacre.

I went with "Boston Stranglers", suck it everyone else

THE FINALS

(1) Celtics defeats (3) Spurs - The Celtics have been on a mission since day 1. They will not be denied. Great Series that will go back and fourth, But Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen will get their rings and the NBA front office goes crazy.

Sure it was against the Lakers but when one of my predictions comes right, Im happy

KG's interview was equal parts awesome, hilarious, touching, and frightening.

ANYTHING'S POSSIBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!!!!!!!

interview was awful because it was pointless they really need to learn to not try to do interviews directly after some wins a championship. They had a 3 second part beeped out because he was cussing. Stop doing the on court interviews during celebrations. They also kept putting a camera up close and personal to the Boston bench late and it was picking up the cuss words so every other second the sound would be cut.

Who cares? Those scenes capture the real, raw emotion of the moment. Go ahead and bleep it if you have to, but I want to see what winning the championship really means to a player like KG or PP much, much more than I want to see the sanitized interview 2 hours, or 2 days, later.

you can put the camera there and capture the emotion but to ask questions (especially the ones she did ask like what does this feel like) is stupid and actually makes him stop showing his real emotions to try and answer the question.

Congrats to Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, I'm glad they got their championship - especially Garnett.

Too bad KG had to lay an egg in the finals. I would have much preferred he won the MVP trophy than Paul Pierce.

I'm happy for Pierce, who had a great great series. I really don't care that much about KG Ray Bourque-ing for his championship (yes, I know, unlike Ray, KG didn't actually want to leave).

That and he went to a team that had been crappy which I beleive Ray didn't.

And KG didn't play great in the finals but did his most important job. Rebound and play D. Kobe on the other hand was pretty bad especially the last three games.

Yeah, the Kobe/MJ thing is done and over. He wasn't good at all this series.

According to Wood Kobe is MJ right now.

 What?

18.2 ppg

13 rpg

3 apg

Plus playing great d, isn't exactly "laying an egg". The Truth just played better.

Congrats, SSR. Would love to see that happen to one of my teams this decade, but the office tomorrow will be treat enough for me. :)

Woohoo! I haven't been paying attention much to this thread, but SSR, are you a fellow Celtics fan? People are congratulating you like you are.

Unrelated: what's with the hatred for Paul Pierce?

I should clarify that I meant on the offensive end. Defensively (sans the cheap fouls in Game 5) and rebounding-wise he was great but if you don't get the points in the finals, rightly or wrongly, you're not winning the MVP.

And actually, looking it up, he was really bad in the first three games before kind of making up for it in the last three games. The first game he was below average, Games 2 and 3 he was horrendous (especially Game 3), Games 4 and 5 he was average and Game 6 he was solid. Look at his shooting percentages: 53.9 in the regular season, 48.4 against Atlanta, .545 against Cleveland, .525 against Detroit, .402 against the Lakers. And it's not as if the Lakers are known as a defensive team either. He also shot worse from the free throw line against the Lakers than he did in any other round or in the regular season, though he did only take 18 free throws.

So he didn't completely lay an egg, but he was well below average on the offensive end.

Strictly going by ppg can be deceptive. If we're going by that alone, Kobe had a pretty good offensive series at 26.4 ppg. But in reality, he pretty much stunk offensively.

Yeah I can see your point, but KG was never really a offensive powerhouse, but I can see your point with Kobe also. My bad

Like I said, if everything is considered, KG had a pretty good series because he was a beast on the boards (3.6 more per game against the Lakers vs. the regular season and twice as many per game on the offensive end) as well as on the defensive end. His only fault was shooting the ball. And he didn't score as much as Pierce did (the No. 1 thing the voters look at) and he didn't have an epic return from injury like Pierce did in Game 1. And Pierce also helped himself by hitting those two 3-pointers right after returning. Right then it was pretty much a lock that if he had a decent series and the Celtics won, he would be the MVP.

Kobe is clearly not made of the same stuff MJ was. Micheal took a stranglehold on games when he needed to, while Kobe seemed content to pass the buck. Kobe may well be more talented than Jordan, but he really showed little of what made Jordan great in the finals.

Kobe's a great player. Great player. One of the greatest ever. But I question whether we'll ever see another MJ.
