Their bullpen isn't exactly the most reliable thing in the world right now.

 

If the Reds give up any more runs this game at all, you'll never see Volquez or Cueto go under 125 pitches again this season.

Thats what happens when your top 2 hitters are out machines, so most of your rallies are going to start with the 3-4-5-6 hitters, leaving the 6-7-8-9 hitters to clean up the mess. This is why a smarter offense would have good hitters hitting 1-2.
