I think Dusty will take the high road. He's employed and has good reason to be excited about his current team. I think he'll go the blah blah.. that's in the past dude.. blah blah bizarre fishing reference route.

He'll try to take the high road, but the Chicago media will press the issue and he'll throw that excuse in. When he gets booed--loudly--the first time he leaves the dugout, it'll be because of racist CUb fans.

Thank god Joe Morgan will not be doing any of the games.

Unfortunately, it's gonna be pretty ugly out there.

I mean, the guy's a terrible manager, but this is just going to make Chicago look bad.

Umm, what? Dusty's coming back to Chicago and it's a given that it will devolve into racial bickering?

What did I miss again?

I was wondering the same thing myself. the only race thing I remember was him saying that black people play better in the heat.

You don't remember his claims of incessant racial taunts against LaTroy Hawkins and Jacque Jones? Or his comments about San Francisco's racist tendencies when they ran him out of town?

Even shortly after he took the job he mentioned about how people told him he shouldn't go to the north side, that they wouldn't treat him well, and that he was better suited to the south side because of his race.

his defenses of LaTroy and Jacque were justified

it'll all be good, there haven't been any recent racial tensions in cincinnati or anything.

I remember Jacque getting treated like crap by the fans less than a month into his tenure with the Cubs. I though for sure he was getting racial crap from some people. I don't remember hearing anything about Hawkins and I vaguely remember something about SF but not much.

If bad managers are considered a "race", consider me the grand dragon.

Golf clap. I chuckled.

I know, because Chicago hates black people like Michael Jordan, Ferguson Jenkins, Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Walter Peyton, Sammy Sosa (in the heyday), Billy Williams, Bill Clinton, and Ced Landrum.

No, because he exagerrated a few awful incidents/letters/comments to basically represent the entire fanbase, or at least most of it.

Wait a minute. I never said that Chicago hates black people. I said that Jones got treated like crap by the fans, which is true. I remember him being booed his first home series with the Cubs. And I thought that I heard a hand full of people made racist comments to him.

Didn't Jacque Jones end up getting some death threats sometime last season or something? I seem to recall him speaking publicly about it at one point.

Sammy Sosa is totally hispanic. I know this because I looked it up. With the internet. Using Google. On Baseball Reference. AMBIT ENERGY CONSULTANTS

If we're going to talk about black athletes and racism revolving around them, they clearly have to be black American athletes, since that's who we're obviously referring to, [dustylingo]

He's often referred to as the "first black president."

Bad joke by Abe.
