Why are both of our CF getting benched? Supposively Lou is considering taking Hill out of the rotation he says he's going to sit down and talk to Hill about his problems or whatever. Heard this from the guy on XM Homeplate. So I guess its ok for Marquis to suck but not Hill.

Game Notes

ON THE RUN: Chicago’s five-game winning streak is its longest run this early in the season since a six-game winning streak April 1-6, 1998.

The Cubs have won their first three road games of a campaign for the first time since 1995, when they won their first four games away from Wrigley Field.

The Cubs have now started a season 6-3 (or better) for just the third time in the last 17 campaigns … the Cubs started 6-3 in 1995 and 2006 and were 7-2 in 1998, also the last time the Cubs won at least seven of their first 10 games when they started 8-2.

Geovany Soto, who last night matched his career high with 4 hits and fell a triple shy of the cycle in Pittsburgh, is hitting .388 (31-for-80) with nine doubles, a triple, five homers and 15 RBI in 24 games since beginning his second stint with the Cubs last season on September 3 … that’s a stark contrast to his first 14 games in the majors from September 23, 2005-July 15, 2007

Kosuke Fukudome has reached base safely in all nine of his major league games thus far, posting a .488 on-base percentage that is tied for fifth in the National League … Fukudome, the first Japanese player in Cubs history, posted a .397 career on-base percentage in eight seasons with the Chunichi Dragons, including a .443 on-base percentage in 2007.

Wow. I'm shocked Soto is playing tonight. I thought for sure Lou would give him an off night with Z on the mound. I guess let'em play while their hot.

Same. Soto is certainly showing some durability so far.

I like that top five a LOT. That top five is going to score even more hits than Myers will after the game.

Myers really isn't the type of right-hander who you want to load up the left-handers against.

I like the lineup in general, but not really tonight. Z is a very good hitting pitcher and also your best pitcher overall. Myers is a right-hander who has smaller splits then most right-handed pitchers. Out of all the nights that you need the offensive boost that putting Ward in provides, this isn't necessarily the best one.

That doesn't mean I think the lineup is a bad one. I actually think it gives you the best chance to win tonight. At the same time, my feeling is that the amount of times you can put Ward on RF is limited with his possibility of injury, and so long-term I'd rather save this for another day.
