That's gotta be either a bad call or a bad rule. He caught that ball.

Bad rule... Pat was talking about how a couple years ago at Wrigley someone caught the ball, ran three, or four steps, hit the wall, and dropped the ball. It was not called an out.

 

You have to be able to take the ball out of your glove.

I remember that play by Preston Wilson - it was not called an out but it was one of the best catches I have ever seen - he hit the wall hard and sprained both wrists on the play.

I don't like the rule because you could essentially run across the field with the ball in glove and than drop it and have be a hit

It's only to a certain extent. If a guy catches the ball at the wall and runs it into the IF before he drops it, it's gonna be an out. But yeah, it's a stupid rule.
