he reminds me of devin harris, who's a pretty good player in his own right. not great, but pretty good. he'll be good in the nba, but right now, he could be a lottery pick.

I was thinking maybe BJ Armstrong, but maybe that's maybe because both looked like kids. But Curry has better handles than I thought.

Yeah by going to a small school he really was able to be the focus of the team and then having a tournament like this he might sneak into the lottery.

How tall is he? He looked short to me, around 6' 1" or so.

I knew it was over when they had Curry bring the ball up.

All tournament he's been killing teams by catch and shooting off screens and they have him bring it up instead? Meh.

Should be a good Final 4 though. Then again, I said that about the three 1/2-1/3 regional finals and only one of those ended up being anything less than a reaming.

and that is why Curry will be a non factor in the NBA.

Awesome analysis.

Well, I could say he won't be able to create much for himself much at all in the NBA, but I though that was obvious.

I thought he created just fine. He will be even better when he has teammates that can play and everyone on defense doesn't center on him.

Yeah, he will basically be a role player.

Steve Kerr was a role player, I wouldn't say he was a non factor though.

He was a non factor when not playing next to the greatest player ever.

Like when he was a nice part of the spurs title?

LMAO? You mean playing 10 MPG, smiling for the camera's and getting his ring? Yeah that is a nice part.

Nah I was thinking where he went 5 for 6 from three in the playoffs. Either way the guy had a good NBA career and Curry should as well.

His behind the back in the first half was pretty impressive, he missed the jumper but just to be able to split Rush and Arthur and get it off really bodes well for him.

The Davidson-Kansas game reminded me of Ball State (yes, they were once good in basketball) vs. UNLV in the 1990 regional semi-final. Ball State, a #12 seed, beat #5 Oregon State (yes, they were also once good in basketball) and #4 Louisville to advance to the Sweet 16. They then played #1 UNLV and had a chance to win with a last-second shot, but didn't get it (I don't recall if they missed the shot or didn't even get it off; it was a few years ago). UNLV then beat Loyola-Marymount (following the death of Hank Gathers) to advance to the Final Four, where they won the championship. Ball State was the only team in the entire tournament that had a chance to beat UNLV; I don't think any of their other games were even within 10 points.

Hope you're right. Based off the EE performances, KU is #4 of the remaining teams. I think the pressure is off, though. We'll be the underdogs in the FF; I think we play better that way.

Hope you're right.

My intention was to compare Davidson with Ball State, not Kansas with UNLV. UNLV was the #1 overall seed and overwhelming favorite going into the tournament, so the relevant comparison would be to compare UNLV with North Carolina, not Kansas.

I'll never forget the party on campus when we beat AZ to get to the FF a few years ago. Absolute insanity on the hill.

UNC is a dream matchup, to my mind. To win it, we should go through Roy.

It's a high-risk, high reward situation. It'll feel great to beat Roy/UNC, but damn, they are clicking.

I wouldn't. Not necessarily because I don't think they're a good team but Memphis is just as hot and if not hotter than UNC is right now. And what Memphis did to MSU and Texas was nothing short of amazing (especially the MSU game). Plus UNC has to beat Kansas which won't be easy either. Whoever wins this thing is going to have to win two tough games to get it done which is why I wouldn't be surprised if any of the four took the title.

i don't know why people would actively dislike kevin love. he seems like a nice enough guy who plays the game hard and from what i've seen, doesn't talk trash.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm, but if it's not.

Go back and read some of the stuff he and his dad pulled when he was in high school

what, the thing about trying to get the coach fired? that was his dad.

and from everything i've seen of him in college, he seems to be a good kid. i'm not going to judge him on some other stuff that was probably written by people who have an agenda against him.

I don't get those who go so far out of their way to trash high school recruits. Have they ever met a teenage boy before? 90% of them should be locked up until they're ready for college for the sake of society. Most have no concept of responsibility and consequence and the others are just major pains in the butt.

If the worst that they're doing is related to the politics of basketball, we should be thankful.

Meh, guess this is the thread for it.

Duke freshman Taylor King is transferring from Duke. Also, Stephen Curry said he was returning for his junior year and Stanford's Lopi are turning pro.

I actually like Brook as a pro. He seems like a decent complement to Noah if the Bulls choose to go that way.

Recently in this thread, there's been a lot of UNC hatred - which I obviously don't understand, but that's not really the point. There've also been a bunch of references to UNC as the "favorite" or the overwhelming choice for overall #1, or whatever. I don't get that at all. Yeah, they're playing very well right now, and I think that's where their hope lies, because they're statistically not as strong as any of the other three teams. Their offense is obviously very good, and can be overwhelmingly powerful, but their defense just isn't at the same level as Kansas, UCLA, or Memphis.

Snood, you say you feel like KU is the underdog going into this game - well that's how I feel about UNC. Maybe it's just homer insecurity on both our parts. But I think to describe any of the four teams as true underdogs in their games is probably inaccurate. Both games seem to me like basic coin flips.

In any case, it should be a good final four. I would be looking forward to it if I wasn't painfully aware of just how shot my nerves are gonna be through the whole game on Saturday (and hopefully the game on Monday!), and how depressed I'll be if/when UNC loses.

Can't speak for everyone else, but it started when you stole Doherty from us after one year (and I took some special schadenfreude in the ensuing mess) and has grown from there.

That said, if they win it all I win money, so go Heels.

We're definitely the betting underdog, and, after the way we played against Davidson, I think some people expect us to get steamrolled.

But really, I think there is a lot of homer insecurity on both our parts. I was called on it on it at Lee Elia's Playground, and the guy who called me on it was right. There's no reason to think KU won't win, just as there's no reason to think UNC won't. It really is a coinflip scenario. If we can apply the Clemson model, I think we have a good chance of winning. If we're not prepared to get back on D and rebound, you'll win. It should be a tremendous game, and I'm really intrigued to see what Self has planned.

As a former Roy team fan, we all know what he'll do. Roy doesn't change a whole lot based on the opponent. He trusts his players and his system and believes if it's run properly, it will win. So we know what Roy will do. I'm curious if Self tries to run, if he tries to bog it down or what.

I was really happy with how he coached that Davidson game. The box and one saved us, and I never thought he'd do it because he's so anti-zone. But God bless him, he schemed it in, and it won the game. UNC will be much tougher to stop. So many weapons.

Any word on where he's transferring?

As for the "Lopi", I'm not really surprised about Brook but I am a bit by Robin going pro. I would assume more of his decision was due to wanting to go pro at the same time as his brother.

As far as the Final Four goes, I really don't think there's an overwhelming favorite this year to win it or even a couple teams that could be considered more likely to take it all. The four teams that are left are all very solid, complete teams and this has to be considered the most talented Final Four, all-around, in a long time. Right now I wouldn't be shocked if any of the four teams ended up winning it all.

Both semifinal games are interesting. On one hand you have two completely contrasting styles in Memphis and UCLA where something is going to have to give. In the other game you have Roy Williams against his former team. I'm just hoping that the remaining three games are all entertaining.
