They should just build an identical replica somewhere where they can have more night games. Maybe they could build it near soldiers field as part of the olympic bid.

I'm sure we have all heard the arguement from Sox fans that 75% of the fans a Cubs games are only there to hang out at Wrigley. Were this situation to happen it would be very interesting to see just how the Cubs draw at the Cell.

the cubs are the #3 draw on the road. the "most cubs fans go to wrigley to get drunk" statement is a myth.

It's not a myth if White Sox fans are the only people on the planet that believe it.

I don't think playing at the cell would keep me from making my annual trip there.

I would probably opt to go to St. Louis or Milwaukee for a trip rather than go to the Cell. I could see going there for Cubs/Sox but I just don't want to be there otherwise.

Time to dust off the old wife beaters........

I don't have to dust mine off, just have to stop wearing the shirts that are usually over them.

I would understand if this were to happen, but a summer without a trip to Wrigley Field just wouldn't feel like summer.

Anything that can ensure that I can take my yet-unborn children to their first Cubs game at Wrigley Field like my dad did for me I'm in favor of.

So, he took your mom to the game? I'm confused?!?!

No, his dad took him to a game when he was a kid, and he hopes he can do the same to his kids(which he doesn't have yet) someday.

I wouldn't go to a Cub game in Chicago if it isn't at Wrigley. Part of driving all the way out there is the ambiance of Wrigley and if I'm going to commit going, I want to see the game there. Now, if the Cubs move to another stadium for good that's different.

Hasn't this been the knock on Cubs fandom over the past years, that their only support the team because they play in Wrigley. I love Wrigley as much as anyone, but I would definetly be at a bunch of games if they were playing in the cell. I would miss Wrigley for a summer for sure, but it would be a cool experience going to home games at the cell and frankly, would become a large part of Cubs history.

I don't live anywhere near there and if I commit to going to Chicago, I want to see Wrigley as well. I'd rather watch the Cubs at Shea/Wash or Philly and save the money.

So out of curiosity, if the Cubs decided to build a new ballpark in Schaumburg and tear down Wrigley, would you never come to Chicago to support the Cubs again?

This is where I said (bolded part above) if the Cubs move to another stadium for good than I would go to Chicago and see the Cubs. I've only been to Chicago once, (That airport thing, did we determine if that counts as a visit?) anyways....I've been there once to see the Cubs and if I am going to go see them it's not going to be the one year they play at the Cell or wherever else.

partially. i think a good number go to Wrigley to get drunk, but if you banned those people from going to games, the place would fill up with people who actually like baseball. in other words, there are a lot of good baseball fans who can't go to wrigley because of the drunk d-bags

It certainly would be a long, tough year for all the bars and other businesses in Wrigleyville.

I wouldn't mind if the Cubs played at US Cellular Field for a season.

I've never felt unsafe in the area around the park, day or night.

I could certainly catch more games at USCF than I could in Milwaukee.

Oh, and Miller Park is a dump. A dark warehouse with a leaky roof. No, thanks.

I dunno, I would think it would be the opposite. There have been a gazillion games in Wrigley, and when it's all said and done, there's going to be a gazillion more. But if/when this transpires, it's going to be probably the only chance in you're lifetime you'll have to see Cubs home games not in Wrigley. That seems more rare and precious than just doing the stock 'trip to wrigley' that every cubs fan has done.

PLUS, you get the satisfaction of completely emasculating dbag white sox (the ones that are dbags) fans.

It's a win-win Cuse. Consider it.

They'll be at the bars in the area waiting for the game to end so they can get an early start on their pickpocketing for the week.

Because a full 3/4's of their identities as fans revolve around constructing various reasons why Cubs fans aren't real baseball fans.

And boy would I love to see that the attendance record for that place was set by Cubs fans. Glorious, I tell you.

Speaking of dust, won't they need to dust off a whole bunch of seats that rarely ever get sat in, also?

I'd rather the Cubs just built a new stadium than go through all this Wrigley rebuilding...but I know I'm in the minority.

And you are because it's a horrible idea. Wrigley Field in Wrigleyville is a very important aspect of the Cubs. Moving is a horrible option, and a new stadium would require moving.
