  1. I need everyone in the entire park to die, including vendors and all Cubs employees, before I'd get a chance to buy season seats.
  2. YOUR 2009 CHICAGO CUBS: BACK TO BACK CHAMPS, BACK TO BACK SWEEPS
  3. At least Mark didn't tell us to be patient.
  4. Now what? That's what!
  5. The Cubs, unbelievably, don't hold this particular futility record. The 2002 Arizona Diamondbacks went 98-64 and then took NLDS sweepage from the Cardinals.
  6. Yep. Now I'm glad I didn't buy any division champions stuff. I wouldn't want to even look at it anymore.
  7. This made me laugh. One of the few reasons to laugh since 9:00 PM last night.
  8. This post is very realistic, very logical, and it's bumming me out. The Dodgers exposed the flaws in this Cubs' team, although we've been seeing some of the flaws for a while now (Lee's power drought, Fukudome's increasing suckiness and unwillingness to make adjustments at the plate, Harden's velocity drop). The Cubs have needs to address and realistically not a huge bump in payroll to address them with.
  9. I didn't win a chance to see the NLCS in person, and it looks like the Cubs don't want to see it in person either.
  10. I would love for Kosuke to stride towards the pitcher and plant his lead foot when he swings the bat. I would love to see the Turnstile Swing retired forever. That's what I would love.
  11. No soup for me. Maybe the NLCS is in my future.....?
  12. Yeah, but still.... :D Since it's decided by MLB, I guess I'll cry about it for weeks like the Astros are. "Bud Killed My Playoff Tickets"
  13. I guess the Cubs are relying on the "it's still Monday until midnight" argument.
  14. I'm pretty sure the NLDS entry goes to the NLCS drawing too. I wonder if they remove "winning" NLDS entries from the NLCS drawing?
  15. I wish I could go. I'd love to see Daryle Ward and the I-Cubs take on the Cards. :D
  16. Really Torres? You guarantee it? What a dumbass. Well, to be fair to Torres, he would keep going back and doing it over and over and over until he got him out. So technically, he's right. And technically, he's a dope.
  17. yeah i really dont get it. maybe "back to back champs", even that is pushing it I'll buy a "back-to-back division champs" shirt if I see a design I like. Not a bad thing to commemmorate, first time it's happened and all. Other than that, I'm waiting for the big prize.
  18. This is great. I wish every PBP guy would follow suit. A standard, "pre-packaged" home run call takes some of the excitement out of the moment for me. Len and Bob are a terrific team, and I hope the Cubs keep them around for a long time.
  19. Yea, they're saying it was self-inflicted. I would cry if a current remember of this team hurt himself by doing something like that. This is what I'm afraid of every time Zambrano flips out.
  20. Sorry, everyone, but THIS is the best/worst/most fitting 80's song for this year's Cubs: You're welcome. :D
  21. I'd go with the Red Sox or Angels. If I have to decide on one, I'd say Boston.
  22. The Chicago White Six...? :-k He wasn't counting Thome, Konerko or Swisher. :D
  23. Absolutely. It gets their starter in the stretch right away, it makes him waste energy throwing over to first, it can lead to the 2-hitter seeing better pitches because their starter rushes his pitches to give the catcher a chance on an attempted steal, it can up the pitch count early, which gets you into their bullpen sooner. Nothing bad can come of your leadoff guy getting on base. [/Capt. Obvious] :D
  24. Thanks for the numbers, soccer - logically I knew that it couldn't be a crazy high percentage, but it did seem like he was always on base to start the game that year. He's still just a mediocre-at-best player when it's all said and done.
  25. While Podsednik was not a great player for the 2005 White Sox, it did seem like he got on base every first inning for them, and then he'd steal second, get moved over by Iguchi and knocked in by Konerko, Everett or Dye. I don't have stats to back that up, I just remember that it seemed like they'd get a first inning run almost every game. Podsednik played a role in their winning the World Series, especially with his playoff numbers, but I think the main factors (as others have mentioned) were the crazy numbers their bullpen arms put up (especially Cotts, Pollitte and Hermanson) as well as the logic-defying postseason run their starters had.
