  1. Today's weather is craptastic right now, and the forecast doesn't look any better (heavier snow predicted for the north side and north suburbs). I have tickets for today's game and I was just wondering if there's any particular timeframe for the Cubs to decide to postpone a game for weather reasons? I really don't want to head out there in this slushy mess, only to have the game called after I'm there. Thanks!
  2. WHERE DID THE OFFENSE GO??????? :D
  3. Cliff trying to destroy everything in sight with one swing.
  4. QFT Sure as hell plays it better than Billy Hall. :) That's ballerina Bill Hall to you. Billerina Hall? I like it!
  5. Nice opposite-field double for Lee. Get him in, Aramis!
  6. Get 'em back on the field nice and quick! Good inning, despite the loud out to CF.
  7. Wow. Putting an old-fashioned whuppin' on Bush right here. Love it!!
  8. Man, Bush really gives the hitter a good long look at the ball before he releases it. That can't be helping him. And his center field practicing pirouettes doesn't help him either. :D
  9. I'd like the Cubs to develop a road jersey that looks like a grey version of the jersey the Reds wore yesterday. Blue piping down the front and around the collar, the Cubs logo (or the walking bear if you have to - I don't like the walking bear myself) on the left chest, number on the lower right side, grey pants with a blue stripe down the legs. That would be a good-looking road uni if you ask me.
  10. Worked for Walker. Statistically, it's been proven he hit better when he had the scruff working. :) The manliness intimidated the opposing pitcher. DeRosa must've taken the "Old Spice Challenge". No "wildflowers and shame" for Mark! :D
  11. Could it have something to do with that Brewers promotion last year about "taking our house back" (or something like that) where they offered Cubs/Brewers tickets early for Wisconsin residents, to try to offset the Chicago contingent? Just some good-natured cross-promotion to boost the rivalry, I'd guess.
  12. While the Comcast gun made me happy, what made me happier were the silly swings the Padres hitters were taking against him. He obviously had them fooled, and that's way more important than a number no one on the field sees. That didn't look at all like the same guy who was getting slapped around in his other spring starts. It was a very encouraging outing, and if he can turn in another performance like that it might spare him a trip to Des Moines.
  13. I got my April tickets last week, still waiting for July and September.
  14. This is the kind of talk I want to hear from Demp, because it seems to me that when he's not joking around he's overanalyzing himself and making himself crazy (crazier?).
  15. Yep, that's the key. A changeup is almost worthless without a noticeable difference in mph from the fastball. Ask Mark Buerhle. :D
  16. I read in the Sun-Times recently that Wade's been hitting 90 again with the fastball. The story didn't say how consistently he hits 90, but I think it's a good sign nonetheless.
  17. They lose points with me for spelling Derrek Lee's name wrong. This DVD set looks cool, but I'll also wait for the World Series DVD set. ....okay, I admit it, this'll probably make the "birthday wish list"..... :D
  18. I remember one game a couple years ago when I watched a kid and his dad walk up the aisle all excited and then they got to their seats and their excitement just drained away. One of their seats was directly behind a pole - I mean, like 18 inches behind it! The poor guy had to sit at a 45-degree angle the whole game just to see around the pole. I felt terrible for the guy, and I just don't understand why they had a seat there. (Besides the obvious reason, that someone will buy it not knowing that they won't be able to see)
  19. Every double-switch will make me think of The Dust. The Dust LOVED the double-switch.
  20. I thought for sure a poster named Tarzan would know everything about aping. :D
  21. I am too. I believe Cotts will handle the long relief/spot starter slot very well this year.
  22. Here we go again??? http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/273029,CST-SPT-cub26.article They say it's nothing, and I hope they're right.
  23. Screamin' A-hole Smith makes the bile rise in my throat. They had him hosting SportsCenter the other day (must've had a bunch of sick calls or something) and he was absolutely dismal at that, too.
