Here's the long link for the clip:

That game was insane. Soto had a 2-run shot, Aramis had 2 3-run shots, Soriano lead off wih a solo shot. Even with all that, the Piraes tied it up 7-7 at one point, I believe thanks to a Marquis meltdown.

that ball was scorched

Maholm's reaction was terrific

He pitched at Mississippi State and was really good. He got completely owned on that pitch though. What a meatball.

We also regret to announce that Carlos Zambrano has earned the title of Golden Anvil, having allowed his 23 homers to travel an average of 402.0 feet...

Ahh yes, the Mandatory Marquis Meltdown, or as I like to call it, the "mmm".

Awesome. I was actually at this game. I think the ball ended up shattering someones windshield.

In Indiana.

I just laughed at that way harder than I should have.

Also, after watching that replay, HOLY CRAP - Aramis slaughtered that ball. Wow.

I'm not sure, but I'm going to assume that true distance is an estimation of where the ball would've landed if it weren't for obstructions? Like I read somewhere that Mickey Mantle hit 600 foot home runs and the reason people say this is because they estimate where his HR's would've hit if the bleachers weren't there, just open space. Just my guess though

True Dist. (True Distance, a.k.a. Actual Distance) - If the home run flew uninterrupted all the way back to field level, the actual distance the ball traveled from home plate, in feet. If the ball's flight was interrupted before returning all the way down to field level (as is usually the case), the estimated distance the ball would have traveled if its flight had continued uninterrupted all the way down to field level.

Std Distance (Standard Distance) - The estimated distance in feet the home run would have traveled if it flew uninterrupted all the way down to field level, and if the home run had been hit with no wind, in 70 degree air at sea level. Standard distance factors out the influence of wind, temperature and altitude, and is thus the best way of comparing home runs hit under a variety of different conditions

I love this site. Just being able to compare Ryan Howard and David Ortiz's HR spray chart side by side makes me happy.

Glenallen's roof shot is included in the highlight homeruns. They estimate it at 500' if it hadn't hit that roof.

Sosa's camera shed shot looks like it was about 450'. I'm guessing it was 480'+ if it were unobstructed.

It looks like there were no HRs onto Sheffield last season. Surprising.

There weren't many home runs onto Sheffield last year, but I know for a fact that Bonds hit the first one of the year onto Sheffield when the Giants came in July. I'm pretty sure it was the same game that Ward got a hurt, a Thursday afternoon game.
