Lets actually get back to the Bears instead of spamming this thread with mindless, incoherent posts.

That being said, I have nothing of importance to say.

Agreed. I lost my head for a few posts, but I am trying to get away from "That debate of better conference" back into what the Bears should do.

Well kinda...except for the 2 times in your last post that you either implied the SEC was better than the Big Ten, or you mocked the Big Ten with a childish nickname. But yeah, other than that...

Glad to see I wasnt the only one who noticed that. At least he left Meddenhall out of the conversation finally.

You guys wouldn't care about him saying Meddenhall if he didn't play for U of I.

In our defense, the last Illinois RB to have a decent NFL career was Howard Griffith; before that it was Red Grange.

i really think that pierre thomas is going to have a good career.

I like the Lloyd signing, and I look forward to at least one more FA acquisition before the draft.

JA can't be done out there.

Wanna bet?

We're doing nothing. NOTHING. This sucks. 5-11.

ESPN now has their draft projects on the bottom line. Notables:

Clady to Denver at 12

Williams to Bears at 14

Mendenhall to Detroit at 15

I didn't know Detroit picked at 14, but even more reason for the Bears to take Mendenhall. Having to see Mendenhall twice a year running us over and then Adrian Peterson in Minnesota............ geez!

Isn't Williams a reach at 14 though?

I think he is. I wouldn't mind him being selected, but not at 14. My biggest point was I dont' want Mendenhall to go to Detroit!

If Clady's gone I'd go Mendenhall.

I'd be OK with that.

Angelo isn't going to pop for another 1st rd RB, unless it's Darren McFadden. And he shouldn't, there is absolutely NO NEED to have two first rd picks that are RBs on the roster. RB is a lower priority then OL, S, etc.

I disagree. The Bears can't pull a starting T out of this draft at #14 unless Clady falls which is unlikely. They have 2 OL spots to fill and it's unlikely that they'll get 2 starters out of the draft.

Personally, I don't really care if Benson is a 1st rounder or not. He's a bust and he's not going to help this team. Why people keep using him as an excuse for Angelos not to pick a RB is beyond me. Fix the line or not, Benson isn't the RB the Bears need to be successful.

Bear fans wonder if you could get a 6th rounder for Benson and then say the Bears shouldn't draft a RB. I don't get it!

Angelo isn't going to waste 1st rd money on another RB, period. That is just about as written in stone, as you can get. He may draft a RB (Slaton, Jones, in the 2nd rd or so) later in draft, but he isn't going to draft a RB, because quite frankly the OL is a higher priority then a RB.

So he'll overpay for an OT that may not even be able to play the position he need him to play and pass over someone who would solve a problem? Does that make sense to you?

By that logic he'll draft a player and not solve any problems, period.

This is why winning the last two games of the season irritates me. We would have been in a much better situation to improve this team if we lost the last two meaningless games.

Probably. And to clarify I know the OL is a problem, but I don't see how the Bears can fill 2 starting OL spots through the draft. While I like Williams I don't know that I like him at 14. From everything I've read on him I don't think he'll handle LT right out of college. He may need a year. So how does that help the Bears?

Why would the Bears reach on a pick at 14 when Benson is clearly not the answer at RB and you could at least put that to problem to rest. Sure, you still have an OL issue beyond the 1st round, but that's going to be there regardless.

conversely, the bears saved a lot of money by winning their last 2 games, giving them some money to negotiate with harris and hester long-term.

it's a give and take.

however, if they could have scored a pick in the mcfadden range, they could have spun him off to dallas for their 2 first rounders and possibly scored otah and stewart.

maybe they'd make the same deal for mendehall, who knows?

I don't think Chris Williams would be a reach @14, that being said I would take Mendenhall regardless if he was there.

He'd be a reach, but not a huge one. He projects in the 18-22 range. And from the Bears point of view, the only players who project around their pick (if Clady and Phillips are gone) are CBs, RBs, maybe a couple WRs and Brohm. If they are definitely going to go OL in the 1st, then Williams isn't a huge reach. If they go BPA, then they won't be looking at Williams anyway at 14.

It'd be financially irresponsible to go after another RB at 14 so soon after Benson was picked in the first round. I'd take Williams (or Malcolm Kelly) in this situation. More than likely, Angelo would trade down and if he can keep a first rounder and a late day 1 pick, that'd be splendid.

Why let sunk costs dictate how you spend your money in the future?

The Bears need a guard in the worst way. This is not a good interior line draft. It's Chris Naeoli or bust now, with Scott and Hadnot signing today.
