Raw, if you're on the board at 14, I'd draft you as well.

I'd rather take Malcolm Kelly.

I'd draft Jackson ahead of Kelly.

Why? I really don't know that his slight build will handle the rigors of the NFL and as someone else said, he loses some of his value on the Bears since Hester is a better returner.

He's more explosive and athletic than anyone in the draft, Kelly is more of as possession WR and Jackson is the HR threat. The Bears need someone who can create in open space.

Devin Hester is good after the catch, assuming he can catch the ball. Bradley is good after the catch, assuming he can get on the field. I'd say the Bears need a possession WR. Hester, Bradley, and if you bring him back Berrian are all HR threats. The Bears need somebody to give them what Moose was supposed to.

I agree. They need a Welker-type more than anything. Its also important that they develop Olson.

when is Joe Jurevicius a free agent?

Hester isn't ready for that role and Bradley is too far into that dog house for whatever reason. They need playmakers on offense, I'd rather see Jackson than Kelly.

If that is the case, then if the Bears are not going to re-sign Benard Berrian and/or trade for Chad Johnson, then the next best thing would be for Lovie to unlock the doghouse, and allow Bradley a chance to shine. And if Lovie does that, then it will be on Bradley to produce. I mean, Berrian didn't break out till his third yr in the league, and Bradley just finished his third yr. Bradley has so much talent, it's a crime not to use it.

With that said, I'll be fine if the Bears want to pick up any WR in this draft, NOT INCLUDING DJ Hall. As a Alabama fan, I was tremendously disappointed with his attitude. This KID along with a few others (I believe Prince Hall, was another) quit on the team, after the LSU game. So, any WR would be fine, outside of Hall.

Miami cuts a pile of ex-Bears, including Marty Booker

Also, LJ Shelton was cut. He's a solid OT. More of a RT, but should be pretty cheap. I'd be interested depending on the price. I'd still like to draft a stud LT. I wonder if he or Tait could play guard.

Tait would still be good @ RT, IMO. It's where he wants to play, too. If LJ could play OG, that might be something to look at.

I'll be screaming at the TV if we don't draft at least a solid prospect LT. We should probably be picking up 2 solid OL options this offseason just to shore things up for '09 (usually takes more than a year to gel a new line). Then if Beekman turns out O.K. we could be alright.

I'll take a Joe Toledo for $300 Alex!

LJ Shelton visited the Bears in 2005 when he was free agent, so there was interest in him before.

In 2006 after week 6 Shelton was moved from LT to RG. They moved him to RT this year because they wanted a more mobile RG who could pull. Garza from my recollection doesnt pull much and having LJ at RG alongside Tait or even RT is also a nice option.

Thanks. I was looking to see if Shelton played guard at some point, but couldn't find anything. He'll be 32 soon, but he hasn't missed a game in over 3 years. I like the idea.

Yeah, Shelton isn't a break-the-bank type of guy, he's a good player and his versatility would help. He'd be a good pickup.

Comcast mentioned tonight the Bears have contacted Booker. I don't know he's probably got little left. He may be 31 but there's mileage on those wheels.

From what I heard, it was Booker who contacted the Bears and let it be known that his first choice would be to come back to Chicago, since the Bears weren't one of the teams to contact him initially.

I'd cut Moose and then sign Booker, as they are essentially the same player.

Seconded.

But the Bears would still need another PLAYMAKING WR if they are not going to re-sign Berrian. I mean, I understand his agent is Rosenhaus, but if Chad Johnson is available, the Bears can top the Redskins offer, anyday. I would offer up the 1st and a 3rd for Chad Johnson, give him the extension (he would be worth the ext, moreso then Berrian) and that would trumps Washington's offer.

I wouldn't. Too much to give up. Too many holes to fill. What's the point in having one of the best (and highest paid) WRs in the league when you don't have a decent QB to throw to him or a decent OL to allow the QB time to get the ball to him?

i remember booker being really pissed when we was traded to the dolphins, maybe he's buried the hatchet and is just looking for a payday.

I don't know if it was mentioend but Wahle got cut by the Panthers and it looks as though Carr and Deshaun Foster are next. Can Wahle still play?

I'm pretty sure the guy's washed up now.

It's not as if the Bears are going to fill a need with their 1st rd pick. Outside of Urlacher and Harris, the Bears track record with 1st rders, is abysmal, so trading the 1st rder, so be NO hinderance. The Bears have, I believe, 2 3rd rders this yr, so trading one of them won't hurt the Bears. Not to mention the Bears can still fixed holes with their 2nd, and the other 3rd picks. But giving Grossman (whom I'm convince the Bears will re-sign) a target like Johnson could be his Plaxico Buress.

I simply tired of my sports team, not wanting to go after "LEGIT" elite players, because of price. If Chad is truly available, I want the Bears to get him.

so, I still get the daily Fanball email from my fantasy league this past fall. in it this morn, I found this:

Bears: Walker wants to remain a Bear

The News

The Chicago Sun Times reported Tuesday that the agent for defensive tackle Darwin Walker made it clear his client expects to return as a Bear, but that might be wishful thinking.

Our View

Walker is due a $5.2 million roster bonus on March 4 after an injury-plagued season. His salary-cap number for 2008 is $6.5 million.

Bears: Bears doing homework on Faneca

The News

The Bears have been doing their homework regarding seven-time Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca, according to the Chicago Sun Times. Faneca, who turned 31 in December, is looking for a deal similar to what Steve Hutchinson and Eric Steinbach commanded the last two offseasons.

Our View

The Sun Times reported it might cost upward of $7 million per season to land the former Pittsburgh Steeler. But if the Bears added Faneca and drafted a tackle high, it would dramatically reshape the line.

Bears: Bears consider signing Booker

The News

Marty Booker told the Chicago Sun Times he wants to go home. A day after the Miami Dolphins released the veteran wide receiver the Bears are considering signing Booker, 31, before he fields other offers. Bears general manager Jerry Angelo traded Booker to Miami for defensive end Adewale Ogunleye before the 2004 season.

Our View

Because Booker is a vested veteran, he is eligible to sign before free agency opens at 11:01 p.m. on Feb. 28.

Feneca would be a nice addition, although pricey. good to see Angelo not ignoring the line finally.

I certainly don't mind the idea of acquiring Chad Johnson, but a 1st and a 3rd is crazy steep. Moss was acquired for a bag of beans -- THAT'S how to GM in this league. Find someone else's mistake, and cash in on it. The Redskins have been overpaying for years for players, and it's netted them a couple early exits from the playoffs and a coaching staff in disarray. I don't think we want to be jumping on that bandwagon.
