I wanted Kotsay for quite a few years, starting when he was with the fish. Cubs never seemed to show any interest. It looks like his numbers have really trailed off in recent years, though.

The A's will probably now trade Street for a nice load of prospects, turn Devine into a closer, and then a year or two for now spin him off in the always inflated closer market.

That's one thing I've always loved Beane for... he just abuses how much people overrate "proven" closers.
