Wow you guys amaze me, its not a 5 year contract, its a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. He's been a decent bulpen arm in the past, I remember some games that year he blew his arm out when he looked real good. He's worth a look, and thats all this really is. Why do people have to get negative and talk down about a guy this way I dont really understand.

Probably because Jim is making a bunch of moves like this instead of ones that could improve the team. I have nothing wrong with this signing, but I wonder if Fukudome is gonna be the only big move we make.

I just hate to see Chad Fox blasted because of Hendry's ineptness, is ineptness a word?. Well you get my point.

FWIW the post was more about frustration with the organization (Hendry) than it was a blast on Fox. Yes I realize it's a minor league deal and not worth getting upset over on the surface -- it's just tiresome to see Hendry play the same losing strategy over and over.

What does Chad Fox have to do with Hendrys loseing strategy over and over? Marmol,Wood,Wuertz,Eyre,Howry, are set in the bullpen. There's a lot of young fireballers brought in to create for the final spots or spot. Fox is a must roster filler in AAA or insurance in case of a rash of injuries. He cost the Cubs nothing. This worked well for the Cards last year with Troy Percvial. We don't even have an update on Fox's health yet he might be hitting in the 90's again for all we know or not.

So now there are posts complaining that Hendry is bored and not making enough moves? A move a day, would that be good? Sheesh, give the guy a break at least for a couple of hours.

Perhaps the new 2008 NSBB contest should be how long someone can go without complaining about the GM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA CHAD FOX?

At least Dusty isn't around to throw him 2 days in a row.

Dusty's work is never done. How many promising/good arms did he ruin for us alone? If i were Homer Bailey, I would demand a trade

Again, forget the Fox signing for a second. It's a meaningless signing -- it cost the Cubs nothing and in a vacuum I'd have nothing at all against it. But in the context of Hendry's long history of attempting to catch lightning in a bottle, or trying resurrect yet another player's career, I'm not going to apologize for a little venting. If Chad has a great year in AAA, or better yet the big league club, more power to him.

The points are endless. Hendry can't resist himself when it comes to pitchers with a history of arm troubles. Taking a spot even in spring training takes away time from a younger pitcher to develop and get a good evaluation. If Hendry had done that in the past, we wouldn't have the Les Walronds of the world in our system.

Good job, Jim. When's the signing of Phil Nevin announced?

Whats your point? Just because he hasnt been as terrible as previous GM's, doesnt mean he hasnt done a bad job.

people want to blast hendry. That's about it. They get mad when he spends money on relief help instead of throwing crap for dirt cheap against the wall and seeing what sticks and what doesn't. Then when he adopts this strategy. They get mad that he's signing crap for dirt cheap.

No risk non-move by Hendry.

Probably not even worth two pages on NSBB.

We have two pages....can I have a third. Come on come give me a third, do we have a bidder for a third. Going once going twice....
