is texas tech running their usual non-conference gauntlet of sam houston st., smu, southwest arkansas st. and northwestern st.?

Yup. Eastern Washington, at Nevada, SMU, UMass. So a 6-7 team from a minor conference, a 1-11 team from a minor conference, and two teams with good records in 1-AA.

holy crap, if Penn State plays Tennessee (again) in the Outback Bowl (again) I just might shoot myself

That would really suck. It was cool seeing us take on JoePa, but not anymore.

Early bowl predictions.

2 Big 10, Big 12, ACC, and SEC teams in BCS games.

Man I'm drooling over that showdown with Ball State in Detroit.

I have no idea what to expect this year. Nothing between 6-10 wins would surprise me. The defense could be very good. WR/TE could be as good as we've had in a while. There's a lot of talent at RB but no experience. The o-line could be really good or medicore and we all saw how bad Christensen was last year.

(note, this is Uga V, but the incident is hilarious)

Best mascot in college football. And this is coming from a hardcore Tennessee fan.

Colorado's buffalo, Texas' bull, Otto the orange and, obviously, Smokey are also favorites of mine - but Uga is simply awesome.

I'm going to assume this is sarcasm.

Ball State could win 7 games, they could win 9, they could run the table. There's no telling. Even if they did run the table, though, their lack of a premier non-conference foe and their league would likely prevent any chance of sneaking into the BCS.

Truly. I would pay good money to see that.

I'm curious to see when they announce the next Uga. Should be soon.

Zippy of Akron won the mascot battle last year and is the first undefeated champ but I regress because he isn't the best

I'm biased and like Purdue Pete because no one is even remotely like him. IU is the worst they don't ever use theirs to my knowledge. All it is is a guy in a suit as a regular white dude with red hair and a IU cowboy hat on. As my dad says their is no such thing as an Indiana cowboy.

as long as we can all agree that brutus buckeye is the absolute worst mascot. the notre dame leprechaun is second worst.

The schools that have no mascot are the worst like IU. There are some smaller D-I schools that win in a landslide ...

Reminds me of the old Eagle bad guy in Spider-man comics.

They have different covers for each system. Matt Ryan is on PS3, Owen Schmitt (?) is on PSP, DeSean Jackson is on PS2 and for some unknown reason, NCAA is celebrating its debut on the Wii by having Sparty the mascot on the cover.

Rivals has it's early rankings of the '09 recruiting class out. Plenty of teams that interest folks on this board cracked the top 25, including Texas, Mich, LSU, OU, Tenn, PSU, ND, and UCLA.

MU and KU come in at 26 and 27. If KU holds or moves up, I may very well have a heart attack.

Well, look for Bama to jump up that list in a hurry. There are alot of talent, that are strong Alabama leans: Dre Kirkpatrick (#1 DB in the country), Tana Patrick and Nico Johnson (#3 and 5 Lbers in the country) Kendall Kelly (14th best WR in the nation, but watch out, he's a major sleeper going into next season), Ming (9th best SDE), I expect Alabama to finish with a Top 5 class.

With that said, this is prolly too early to even talk about recruiting classes. I suspect the SEC will be highly represent in the Top 10 (Alabama/LSU/GA/Florida) along with USC, OSU Buckeyes, Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame, and perhaps even Texas to round out the Top 10.

Ohio State already has 23 guys, holy crap. Their class is all but finished, unlike SEC teams the teams in the Big Ten don't oversign and get like 39 committements.
