...While dozens of players were named last week in the Mitchell report into the use of performance-enhancing substances in baseball, four others who were not in the Mitchell report -- Sammy Sosa, Pete Incaviglia, Geronimo Berroa and Allen Watson -- are named in one of the affidavits. (Other players were named in the affidavit, but they were also named in the Mitchell report.) The other affidavit, expected to be made public Friday, is believed to name at least one other player who did not appear in the Mitchell report.

I don't trust ESPN to have or tell the whole story. The Trib story is a reprint from the NY Times. Beside, ESPN's too busy trying to clear Clemens' name to concentrate on other matters... Edited by 98navigator

LOL. Ok, point taken.

Only when Sosa's urine is swished around inside Roast's mouth and HE determines that Sammy juiced will I believe it.

Only when the woman dies to her good Christian death will I believe she wasn't a witch.

ESPN didn't name Sosa on the bottom line either, and I have to believe if Sosa really had been named that they would've mentioned it. He's kind of a big name.

No smoking gun here. It's not about steroids.

Sosa's name was mentioned when Grimsley described a conversation he had with Orioles teammates Miguel Tejada, Rafael Palmeiro and Sosa about how they would play after baseball banned amphetamines.

Sosa was mentioned in relation to amphetimines not steriods. And it was about overhearing a conversation that Sosa was having with Tejada.

I know it's hard not to try to drag Sammy through the mud on this one, but let's at least get our facts straight.

Facts straight? Where did I mention steroids? I said he was mentioned in the affidavit; which is true.

edit: The Trib article was updated this morning:

That's a fantastic line. Do you mind if I use it?

yawnn...Amphetamines..who cares, really. They were taking those back in the 60's.

My feeling exactly. If we start crucifying and holding amphetamines against players, then we need to dig a lot deeper than just a few years back.

I'm in the same boat. Not concerned with them.

At least we'll get a good white man back with the HR record.

Well before the '60s. Amphetamines were widely used by nearly every country's soldiers during WWII and were circulated pretty well among civilians in the US. They've certainly been a factor in sports since at least the '50s, if not '40s. Heck, they've been a much more frequent and significant factor in the history of baseball than steroids and HGH combined.

Yeah okay, that disturbs the hell out of me.

And - this article doesn't mean much to me yet. So Sosa reportedly had a conversation with some guys about what they would do after they banned something that's not a steroid. Something that's been used in baseball since the 60's. Big whoop.

Might wanna touch up the grammar first, lest people think you're an idiot.

LOL, that's funny as hell.

I wonder if Grimsley speaks Spanish. If not - he should get some kind of award for actually being able to understand what Sosa was saying.

Quite frankly, would probably be easier to list player who didn't use amphetamines than those who did I would suspect.
