My gal recently got a marketing job in the front office for the Memphis Redbirds (AAA for the Cards). During her interviews she did give them notice that she was a lifelong Cubs fan, so at least she doesn't have to hide that.

So my question is: Does working for a minor league affiliate of a rival constitute working for the enemy?

I said just at the major league level. Minor league teams frequently change affiliations.

As I'm sure many posters here recall, we have an NSBB member who is a Cubs fan but works (or worked) for the Cardinals, although she hasn't posted here recently.

I think I speak for us all when I say...

is she hot?

Yeah, I need pictures in order to make a decision.

Didn't she just get married to a Card fan too? Or at least engaged?

majors only. we had the Cardinals Short-A affiliate here last year and I went to a lot of games. They're a Pirates affiliate now and I still go. The odds of Short-A players making the majors with the team that drafted them is pretty low

I think you're right about that. Talk about sleeping with the enemy. :D

you can ask Nathan Baliva, voice of the Chiefs. As a Cardinal fan, he stuck around when the Chiefs became part of the Cubs when the affiliation changed. He came to the right side though, while your gf did the opposite. Y'all just need to move to Des Moines or Peoria, is all!

A marketing job, no, regardless of level. If she's working in player development in any capacity, or providing any other services that may in some way shape or form assist players players on the team, whether it's buying their steroids or busting their slumps, then yes.

It is a pretty cool park though. Ole Miss v. Memphis baseball games are played there.

Even if she did work for the Cards directly, who would care?

If I wanted to get into baseball and the Cards were that route, I'd go that route.

Ya, that's pretty much the case. I'm moving to Denver next fall and if she came with me, I wouldn't care if she got a job with the Rockies. Doesn't change the fact that we are Cubs fans.

She does say that the sight of all the red in that office makes her want to jump out the window.

i'd become the gm of the cards and lead them to 5 consecutive world titles all while telling cubs fans to suck it if it meant i had a job in mlb. screw loyalty.

i'd actually take a job with the cards and then run them into the ground. it might get me fired, but my cub fan friends sure would appreciate the effort.

I would go this route as well.

I probably would too, but only because running an organization into the ground would give me about as good a chance of being hired by the Cubs.

The trick is to have the Tribune buy the Cards. Then, you can become their GM, run them into the ground, and they'll sign you to an extension.
