Just imagine if I signed up at OriolesHangout as another resident Cubs fan. That'd throw them the hell off.

Haha. This is random, and I may be a bit immature, but did you read what some Dodgers forum replied to a guy when he posted one of the insiders rumored trades? I don't know why but I was LMAO.

HAHAHAHHA I loved the part where he says the trade in terms of describing people ( a future ace, a serviceable 3B...) and then he gets to Pierre.

It certainly does make it more entertaining. Less classy, but more entertaining.

I love mixing my excessively verbose writing style with profanity. This is the only forum I frequent where I can't. :evil:

Same here. Can't we make a adults only thread on here?

I'd pay for premium if they'd let us cuss

So would I.

Hell, I've been paying for it and haven't gotten anything for a few weeks.

I don't think it's necessary to warn us of profanity when referring to Dodger Blues. In fact, I think you should warn us when threads there DO NOT contain profanity.

Anyone know what Blanton's contract is like? When is he a FA?

Per Cot's Baseball Contracts through the 2006 season, so he's just over 3 yrs ML service:

Joe Blanton p

1 year/$0.38M (2007)

* renewed 3/07

* 1 year/$0.327M (2006), renewed 3/06

* 1 year/$0.3165M (2005), re-signed 2/05

* drafted 2002 (1-24), $1.4 M signing bonus

* ML service: 2.016

I have a hard time believing we have the chips necessary to pull out that "dream" scenario of Fukudome, Figgins, Roberts, and Blanton. In terms of money and players given up it doesn't make much sense. Pie would have to headline one deal, Marshall another, and Murton+Gallagher a third. So for example, Pie+Cedeno+lower tier minor leaguer gets us Roberts, Murton+Gallagher+lower tier minor leaguer gets us Figgins, and Marshall+Prior gets us Blanton. It drains us of pretty much all our tradable assets, and even those packages might not be enough.

Why don't we just forget Figgins and sign Lofton?

Or just Pie or Murton (whichever is kept) or DeRosa...

Seriously doubt that the Angels would want Murton. Their outfield is already pretty crowded now with Torii Hunter, Gary Matthews Jr., Vlady, Garrett Anderson, Reggie Willits and Juan Rivera.

Good groundball pitcher.

A 1.58 G/F ratio isn't that great. Before that it was 1.15 and 1.16.

There are a host of concerns I have about Joe Blanton.

First of all, that flyball-to-home run ratio that has hung around 7.7% the last two years. Pitching in Chicago, I'd be dubious it's anything under 10.5%. His away from Oakland ERA was 5.11 in 2007 and 5.12 in 2006. How much do you trust do you have in Oakland pitching to stay as good once it leaves Oakland? My answer: not much at all.

Joe Blanton reminds me of a better version of Jon Garland. They've both got an okay-but-not-great G/F ratio, bad K/9 for righties, decent control (Blanton's jumped way ahead of Garland's this year).

If the Cubs got Figgins they wouldn't need Roberts

Cubs get Figgins

Angels get Gallagher, Marshall and Inge

Tigers get Hart, Harvey & PTBNL

I like how so many posters on that Dodger board are wailing and gnashing their teeth over their plight. I really want to register just to write, "100 years. Shut it" and watch the flaming begin. . .
