how is this hit not a personal foul? since when can you leave your feet to tackle the QB?

You aren't seriously asking that question, are you?

As far as I know, defensive players can leave their feet or even crawl when trying to sack the QB if there isn't helmet to helmet contact, a facemask infraction, or such...

It's borderline. The bicep is hitting the head, but I don't think it was an intentional blow to the head. I'm OK with the no call there.

It's not like it really makes any difference. OSU just got beat, plain and simple. They started off good, but couldn't sustain the effort.

My score prediction was 38-21 LSU. I nearly got that down.

I'm so glad tOSU lost. I'm an Illini fan and all, but I have no affiliation to the Big 10. I don't know how some of you could actually pull for Ohio State or Michigan in a game of this magnitude. But more power to you guys.

Like LSU is all sunshine lollipops and rainbows?

IMO..WV would beat LSU or Georgia but would lose to USC due to the matchups but if they did have a plus 1 it would be USC or Georgia going. I really dislike the politics that goes with College football.

Politics my ass. If your conference champ didn't play like gutless choking dogs against a horrible Pitt team they woulda gotten the chance to smoke OSU. They didn't.

Sure sounds like you're implying OSU never plays anyone out of conference.

They had the same record as LSU and all the other 2 loss teams. Never will a BE team that has the same record as one of the Big 3 (Big 10/12 and SEC plus ND/USC) get a chance to play in the BCS Championship game. Look at the rankings...WV killed OU but yet they are behind Missouri who beat that ever so tough Arkansas team. Again, the politics of this make it suck.

They didn't in 2007 and will play 1 BCS team in 2008 out of conference. After USC kills them they will still win the Big 10 and get a chance to play in the BCS big game and prove they don't belong.

No, that would be Iowa.

NIU (2 - 10), Syracuse (2 - 10), Iowa State (3 -9) and mighty Western Michigan (5 - 7).

If West Virginia lost to a non-horrible team 5 weeks earlier, they'd probably be in the title game. They lost to a horrible team on the last week of the season. You didn't see any Mizzou fans around here thinking they should have been in the title game. They lost in the last week to a much better team than Pitt. Like it or not, teams are rewarded/penalized for how they finish. West Virginia finished about as poor as you could to a regular season, and therefore were knocked out of the title game.

I can't imagine how you could possibly be making this argument when heading into the last week of the season West Virginia was one of 5 1 loss or less teams and they were set for the national title game.

I've never cried due to a sporting event in my life. I came close in 2003, but I was able to channel that into wall punching anger.

I cried during one when I was 11 but I don't think that counts...I mean, I was 11.

I don't want to divert the topic, but I never understood the "punch something inanimate when I'm angry" thing. Its got to hurt.

Mizzou didn't win their conference. The season should be looked at as a whole and not just the last game as they always drop after a loss when it comes to the final poll before the Bowls. These assumptions of who is good by coaches who don't even watch the games is ridicules and that's all this is based on as the computers matter very little.

Well, I take that back. I teared up a little bit when my knee exploded into a million pieces. That was the closest I've ever come to crying from pain as an adult. You guys who have never injured your knees have NO idea of the pain. Sweet Mohammed, it's terrible.

Must have been the steroids I was taking at the time. :P

I'm not gonna complain too much because honestly, a final ranking of 7 is more than I could have ever asked for, but for the only one-loss BCS conference team to be ranked 7 is silly. It's probably karma for us getting the Orange Bowl, which I'll take any day. But we should be top 5, IMO. You can make an argument for #2. At the least, we should be ahead of tOSU, who has a very similar resume but one more loss.

here is a blog the same guy that i was disgusted with yesterday posted this morning explaining the sec's dominance over the big 10....enjoy.

I got several responses to my post about the SEC getting it done again against the Big10.

Looks like I was right!

Now, for those of you that need further clarification about why the SEC is hands down the best conference here you go....

Lets first look at bowl apperances shall we.

SEC - 361 bowl appearances and 70 more wins than the Big10

Big10 - 234

National Championships

SEC - 13

Big10 - 12

(This is a bit scewed because of schools and thier conferences changing over the course of the years...BUT, the SEC has the most BCS national championships also)

Bowl Rankings (How many times a conference has been in the top 25 poll)

SEC - Has 7 of the top 20 teams

Big 10 - Has 3 of the top 20 teams

All Time Wins

Now, This stat I wasn't able to come up with an exact number but here is what I did find.

The SEC has 5 teams in the top 15 of all time wins and 10 teams in the top 50.

The Big10 has 3 teams in the top 15 and 9 in the top 50. Of course Michigan is number 1 but hell, they've been playing football longer than any school in the country. 126 years to be exact!

Alumni in the NFL

This is based on the starting rosters from this years NFL teams (2007)

1st place - 263 former SEC football players on NFL rosters.

3rd place - Big Ten with 234 players.

Attendance (Yes, I said attendance)

The SEC has led the nation in football attendance 9 straight years – averaging 75,706 fans per game in 2006! Amazing. Really, that fact alone says it all.

And finally, Recruiting.

As of right now on Rivals.com in the top 25 recruiting classes in the nation we have....

5 SEC schools and they are ALL in the top 15.

3 for the big 10.

Enjoy the debate folks...it's a never ending one!
