i am going to miss gallagher...i just don't have the same faith in marshall

blah

How can you miss Gallagher when he has only pitched 14 innings? In those 14 innings he has given up 19 hits and 14 ER to go along with 12 walks. Not that Marshalls track recored is very good, I would certainly prefer to trade Gallagher over Marshall at this point, especially if it nets us B. Roberts.

Welcome to the board! Gallagher was only 21 and had never pitched above AA before that. He'll be just fine.

Great logic. Let's completely ignore their ages minor league track records and fixate on 14 innings of limited major league usage.

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :D

Gallagher will improve on his first 14 innings as he goes forward. He has accomplished more in the minors than Marshall did and at this time, he has better stuff (and doesn't have the checkered injury history that Marshall has).

Its just great to know that Sean still has all his haters out there and to be honest he was put into a role that he wasn't familiar with. Thats okay everybody is entitled to their opinion, is that to say that with given a chance to start he won't be better? Who knows will that chance be with the Cubs?, who knows and at this point to keep viewing a post that has dragged on for almost 200 pages. Is this trade really going to happen? I don't know at this point and have stopped worrying about it. I like the rest of you will just have to wait and see.

I'm sure it would be exciting for you if it did, though, right? You'd have to think Sean has a better chance to pitch and stick in a major league rotation in Baltimore.

It's not gonna do much for his W-L record, though. :?

Wish they could find a way to do the deal without Sean. I'd almost rather keep him than Pie.

Honestly, I wish we had never heard of OH or bigbird or Peace or whoever else supposedly has insider status at OH.

After this whole Roberts/Bedard fiasco, I long for the days of reading about trades AFTER they happen.

Granted, a lot of this is on MacPhail and Angelos, but I honestly don't care about OH, the people who go to OH, the posts that are brought back here from OH or anything else Orioles related.

THIS IS NSBB, not OH Jr.

I have never visited OH, but I can only guess NSBB is a far more superior site, even if we don't have anyone who sweeps the floors of Hendry's secret war room.

It was fun for awhile (like a day or two), but it's real old at this point.

I'm sorry, but the bolded part is comical. "I have never been to France, but I can only guess that the wine here is far more superior" I'm not saying that NSBB is not a superior site but it is hard to make such a statement if you have never been there and goes to show that some people have a strong bias against the OH in general.

While it is true that I have never been there, I have been given a wine tasting of OH (with the quotes that have been copied to this site) and I'm not impressed.

Strong bias against the OH in general? Please. I'm a Cub fan hanging out at what I consider to be the best Cubs forum on the planet and I'm jealous of an Orioles message board that I've never even visited?

Nice try, but you're way off base.

I don't see any were that I said you were jealous of the Oriole message board, just that you seemed to be biased against it and I have no idea why. Maybe I should not have said strong bias against, but I don't see how your statement about a place you have never been could mean anything else.

David is a trusted poster here and mentioned that a few insiders from the OH have had inside info in the past. By slamming the insiders on the OH and questioning that they have ever had any inside info, indirectly calls David into question since he said they are reliable. I can see why he cares and understand why he feels the need to defend them.

credibility does not last forever. Those who choose to claim things are done and things are over, over and over again, put their credibility on the line, and deserve scorn when they've cried wolf for the 1000th time.

I appreciate the mention, but you might want to credit RammyFanny (I think) with bringing the OH stuff over here.

I do think it's cool of him to pass the stuff on to us, even if half the responses will be some sort of flames.

Long time no see.

Rosenthal reporting that Bedard to the Mariners is official.

It's about time!

yeah but rotoworld says this

Eric Bedard's physical was expected to carry over to today, meaning the trade might not be announced until Saturday.

Even though he's a near sure-thing to pass his physical, the examination is probably thorough considering Bedard is coming off an injury. The deal should be official in the next 36 hours.

Rosenthal is right I'd say 90% of the time. If he says it's done, I believe it.

All they can do is pass on the info they where given. Things have moved much slower than I think anyone expected and as far as we know the deal got axed at the last minute by Angelos. They could have said "Take it with a grain of salt but FWIW, my source says it is as good as done" but I get tired of all the qualifiers and posturing that has to be done to give your self and out if things fall apart. I'm glad people that are in a position to share information do. Things might not have worked out as they were told this time, but people seem to be questioning if they have any sources at all and are just making everything up. I don't think it is fair or justified.

Sorry, it is easy to get lost in a thread of this size. I agree that it was cool for him to pass on the info since it was Cub related and I probably never would have found it on my own.

Welcome to the forum, Sicks2k! You picked the right thread on which to make your first post.

Babies have been conceived and born, empires have risen and fallen, and, yes, posters have made their first posts since this thread was first opened way back in, uh, '07.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that "the Erik Bedard trade finally is official."

Bedard took and apparently passed his physical Thursday, so an official announcement should be coming shortly. Seattle will acquire Bedard in exchange for Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman, Tony Butler and Kam Mickolio.

In that article Rosenthal also states:

The Cubs remain heavily interested in Roberts, and the Orioles could receive prospects such as pitcher Sean Gallagher and outfielder Felix Pie or veterans such as RHP Jason Marquis and outfielder Matt Murton.

Interesting that it says Sean Gallagher AND outfielder Felix Pie instead of Sean Gallagher OR outfielder Felix Pie. I'm sure Hendry will way overpay though.

I love the way that's phrased. Ehhh, it could be 2 of the Cubs top prospects or it could be an overpriced starter and a guy the Cubs hate for being right handed.

I think he's just spitballing and assuming that Gallagher and Pie are being discussed.

And no, spitballing is nothing like skyballing.
