In my opinion, Illinois was the best team Indiana played this year. Of course, they missed both OSU and Michigan. I was very impressed by Illinois at that game.

and i count the indiana game as one of the illini's key victories. indiana is tough and will be for a while.

I felt going in the winner of Indiana-Illinios would be the Big Ten's surprise team. I just hoped it was Indiana, though I didn't plan on it. I am, however, worried about IU's future. As long as they have Kellen Lewis at QB they'll be competitive. We'll see after that, though.

well, they have a 2 year stay of execution, and i think they'll figure something out by then.

True. And Indiana HS coaches love Lynch, so hopefully he can make some recruiting inroads here. (Not that securing Indiana talent will get us the Rose Bowl; any bowl is a reason for celebration around here.)

Not anymore because they got beat. They were #5 when Illinois beat them. So, yes, they were a top 5 team.

That's some mind bendingly awful logic.

I agree. I mean.....wow.

Are you saying a team shouldn't get credit for beating a team ranked in the top 5 in the nation?

What constitutes a top 5 win? My logic is apparently flawed so please explain.

I'll explain in three sentences.

ND beat No. 3 Michigan at the Big House in 2005. Michigan finished 7-5. No one did or should have considered that a top 5 win.

End.

The stats site that as a top 5 win.

It's not really hard to understand. I agree that Wisconsin isn't a top 5 program right now, but that is what they were ranked at the time they played Illinois.

The fact of the matter is, Illinois beat 2 top 5 ranked teams. Whether you think those teams should have been ranked in the top 5 is another issue all together.

See here's the thing, it WAS a top-5 win. It's not anymore. Now it's a win over the No. 18 team in the BCS.

Just out of curiosity, what do you consider Missouri's win over Illinois to be - a win over a team that didn't have any votes at the time the teams played or the No. 13 team in the BCS?

Mark Richt nails it on ESPN's bowl special. They did the same thing to GA that they did to UM, and it's BS. If you didn't think GA was the 4th best team the week before then don't put them up there. If you did think GA was the 4th best team last week, then they should be the 2nd ranked team this week. The voters manipulated their ballots to set up the title game.

I agree. I think, however, Oklahoma has a bigger gripe. They just dominated the "#1" team on neutral field and really didn't make up any ground in the polls. If Mizzou was truly the #1 team, which they weren't, then that win should've vaulted Oklahoma up the polls.

I sure hope we can. It's going to be high scoring. I really want the Big Ten to do well. I have a place to stay in Phoenix, now I just have to look for a cheap flight

So now what do the Big 10 teams have to do to look good in bowl season? Win the game at LSU, the game at USC, or the game at Florida?

Kentucky vs. Florida St. in the Music City Bowl. This migt be the last UK bowl game for awhile.

my boss ordered a bunch of tickets to this game the other day in anticipation that FSU would be there (his parents are FSU alumni)....so most likely, i'll be there, drinking lots of beers.

no, that would just be lucky.

I don't expect much at all from Michigan -- Florida is too good. Illinois will hang in, but I'll be stunned if they win. On the other hand, I really, really think OSU may win. Everyone will talk about LSU and how OSU got demolished last year. That will grate on the Buckeyes, like it did last year with Florida. LSU is better, but I'm not sold on how great they are.

Technically, Mizzou beat an unranked team. And right now, the Illini's win over Wisconsin still counts as a top 5 team. All the arguing in the world doesn't change that.

Wow anybody just hear June Jones's comments regarding Tim Tebow, Colt Brennan, and the Heisman? He took a pretty good shot at Tebow. I hope Meph is ok.

Called Tebow a system QB, and that he couldnt run Hawaii's offense because it takes an accurate passer.

The thing is Tebow's a very accurate guy. I don't think Jones really was trying to knock Tebow as fight for his guy. All coaches do the same to defend their own guy. Don't read into Jones' comments.

And Colt Brennan couldn't run Florida's offense. Please be quiet June Jones. Do your talking on January 1 against Georgia.

I can't wait for the LSU/Ohio State matchup. You don't get to the MNC two years in a row without being badass.

FWIW, LSU is a great team. They played a lot more convincingly earlier in the season when they weren't racked with injuries to key players like Dorsey, but they found ways to win and their only two losses were both in triple overtime. LSU WITH Glenn Dorsey has a much better defense than without. He makes that much of a difference. Arkansas always plays LSU to the wire and McFadden is unbelievable. That was a TOUGH loss.

LSU is deep at a lot of key positions, and it should be noted that they won the SEC Championship with a QB who has only made one start in his career. I'm thinking that Dorsey, Doucet, and Matt Flynn will be ready to go for the MNC game - and LSU will be at full strength.

34-21 LSU.

They won the SEC Championship because Eric AInge looked like Danny Ainge playing football.

Who's going to be the more successful QB in the next level? I'd say Colt.

no, that would just be lucky.

It's irrelevant, since they'll lose all those games by healthy margins.
