If the Cubs are offering 3/45 it at least puts to bed that the Cubs will not/can not add payroll.

i hate to say it, but maybe the deal is backloaded

It could be, but I feel like it would be hard to signifigantly backload a three year contract. I could be wrong, though.

Last night got out of control...

Rick Astley himself has probably said that on many, many mornings.

In all seriousness, what is the origin of this "Rick Roll" fad?

As is the case with most internet fads, it started at 4chan. Don't go there, it's a scummy place.

I think Rick Roll should be replaced (or at least augmented) by this:

Maybe it's just me, but I think the incessant Rick Roll talk should be replaced with posts actually pertaining to the topic, or simply not be made in lieu of any actual news.

Again, could just be me.

Wow, looks like someone is having a bad case of the Monday's. :D Here you go:

For my 16,000th post, I have decided to post something that is thought-provoking and deep compared to the current discussions going on. You will find it is quite relevant to this thread.

But there isn't any news to report right now. So, in lieu of news:

Hence "or simply not be made, in lieu of news."

But never mind. I can see I'm outnumbered and the flood of memes and Photoshops and the like will continue regardless.

Good point BCVM22....let's try to keep this thread on topic and make another thread for the critters and the like.

Thanks.

Just flipped through the local AM channels on my lunch break and 670 the score had said Hendry doesn't expect a decision on Fuku until 24-48 hours from now.

The Roberts deal is being discussed still, no names said on this report as to who the Cubs would give up.

The wait continues.

Don't worry...I'm sure that a nice trade will liven you up? Besides, it wasn't just you by a long shot. I do understand that we're all anxious for this deal to happen.

Maybe one less player in the Fukodome sweepstakes.

The Journal News confirms that the Yankees and Giants have had discussions involving Hideki Matsui.

If the Giants trade for Matsui, it'd be because they care more about getting a few additional fannies into seats in 2008 than putting together a contender. Matsui remains a fine player, but he's had just one great season in five years in the majors, he's below average defensively and he's entering his age-34 season. He's exactly the player the Giants should be avoiding. Instead of giving up talent and then paying Matsui $13 million per season for the next two years, it'd make far more sense to make a big run at Kosuke Fukudome. They also could have beaten the Dodgers' bid for Andruw Jones. Dec. 6 - 2:17 pm et

You know how some flippy dippys wear helmets so they won't hurt themselves? Yeah I think that man is a flippy dippy.

According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, it "sounds like the Cubs might go as high as $12-15MM per year" for outfielder Kosuke Fukudome. He adds that Fukudome would have to be willing to take less money to play on the West Coast if he is to become a Padre. Many players have before, so don't go buying those Fukudome Cubs jerseys just yet.

If they get him and have Bradley they've done what I wanted to do. As O_O would say, I'd be a sad panda.
