Will had this to say from a post this morning. This was at the end of a post discussing Torre to LA.

Is there more pent-up news ready to break after the World Series embargo? There’s definitely rumblings. I’m expecting news in St. Louis and Chicago as soon as Tuesday.

Obvioulsy STL is the new GM. I wonder what he is refrencing for Chicago? Something about the Cubs or Sox?

I don't see what it could even be. There's no signing of free agents yet, and there doesn't figure to be anything going on regarding the front office or manager/coaching staff of either team.

If there's any legitimacy to this, maybe it's got to do with the sale of the team (starting the process or something).

Maybe they're signing Wood and making him a starter. Merge it with the other thread.

does Will cover basketball?

I believe he does. BP just launched the new basketball website.

That wouldn't matter with this though. The NBA doesn't follow the news embargo in place during the World Series. If something was happening with Kobe Bryant to the Bulls it could be announced during the World Series.

I don't see why there would be a big Chicago announcement surrounding baseball. Not today, anyway. He did say "as soon as" Tuesday though, mabye something for later this week?

It's probably news regarding the health of Mark Prior and or announcing they're non-tendering him.

That's what I'm thinking.

good call, Carroll is always been a guy that has connections with Prior and Tom House.

No. They will go to the last minute on this. Why would they announce this now? It's probably that Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn is staying and not going to St. Louis. That's what Bruce Levine reported today anyway.

I don't think they would announce it now if they wanted to non-tender him, but if there was a setback they may. I just don't see Hendry coming out the gate guns blazing like he did last offseason.

that doesn't have the bursting-at-the-seams-to-hold-off-until-after-WS feel that Carroll seems to be implying, though you may still be right.

Win Win situation for Carroll. Now he will be right no matter what happens.
