I'm gonna be honest, I'm thrilled about this. I don't think it could have happened to a better fanbase. They don't come any more "fairweather" than Cincy sports fans (baseball and football alike).

Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha

I wonder how long it will take for Harang to get mark prior'd.

Also, the best part of this is; you know somewhere out there, there is some poor sap reds fan who actually is really excited about this because Dusty is a "big name" manager. Outstanding.

So I guess we can look at them to replace Norris Hopper and Jeff Keppinger with Rondell White and Cliff Floyd.

Nah, Norris Hopper, with his Juan Pierre-like skill set, is the exact type of player Dusty loves.

Joey Votto on the other hand is a different story. I doubt Dusty gives him the time of day.

Except Harang is nowhere near as much of a girl as Prior, and has already had seasons of throwing tons of pitches on his arm.

Besides that, it will be the same.

You seem like a good guy, so I feel bad for you.

You're the only one though. I believe that every team should have the displeasure of having Dusty Baker as their manager.

For those of you Reds fans out there, go into your toolbox and pull out a hammer. Take said hammer and smash yourself in the skull with it.

Now you can think like Dusty!

Plus it will dull the pain of the next few seasons.

This quote from our ugly red-headed step sister board bears repeating...

Dusty has no positive qualities for a major league baseball team. None. Anything that he can be credited for could also be done by a friendly hobo on a park bench.

Just like many of us (myself included at the time) felt when he was hired as Cubs' manager.

I love this post from a Reds Message board:

Didn't want Baker,but he didn't overwork Prior&Wood.

They ruined themselves,by not adjusting how they pitched to last longer, thats what caused there arm problems.

Oh man...

Most Reds "fans" don't follow the team or go to games unless the Reds are winning anyways (or on $1 hot dog days or Bobblehead giveaway nights.) Most of them know nothing about baseball and have been trying to run Adam Dunn out of town for years. Hard to feel sorry for them.

Wow, what a suprise but I thought that (maybe with the exception of the John Scherholz announcement) MLB/Selig wasn't allowing any team announcements until after the WS?

Maybe it's different this year, because representing the National league are the FREAKIN rockies and FREAKIN diamondbacks.

As mentioned by someone earlier, I wouldn't worry about Harang nearly as much as Homer Bailey.

I totally agree with Rotoworld that Dunn is much more likely to be available now. He's a slow white guy who strikes out a lot and has a .248 career BA and poor defense. Given his lack of speed, the 100+ walks may actually be a negative in Dusty's eyes. I hope Jimbo makes some inquiries. I would love to have Dunn in LF and Soriano in RF next year.

If Dusty spreads the magic powder in the outfield - like he did at Wrigley - before games, this may turn out to be a great year for the Reds.

I really can't think of a worse team for Dusty to manage. They have young players that need to play, but also crappy players that could be playing over them. With arguably the greatest concentration of high end talent (Bailey, Votto, Bruce, Cueto) they just hired the opposite of the kind of manager they need.
