Even Hendry can't be this stupid. I don't care what Ken Rosenthal speculates, there's no way the Cubs bring Trachsel back. No way.

Exactly. There's no way he can be this stupid. Right?

You don't bench a guy and then leave him off the postseason roster if you plan on having him around next year. Come on, guys. Think about it. This makes zero sense.

Unless of course hes planning on trading him as Rosenthal postulates.

This is a good point. What if Hendry sees the purse strings pulling shut by December as the sale gets closer and he's trying to stockpile trading chips. Granted this particular trading chip is closer to a buffalo chip. It's also hard to imagine Jim with any kind of gameplan.

I'm still holding out hope that Rosenthal is wrong, but expect me to go off in epic proportions if Hendry actually is idiotic enough to pick up Traschel's option. Traschel is trash and should be dimissed immediately.

If Trachsel's option is picked up I will have a meltdown of the-night-they-almost-didn't-sign-ARam-proportions.

I'll jog everyone's memory:

But yeah, me too.

It's been too long since they have had the first pick in the draft.
I believe Shawon Dunston was the last one.

I refuse to even acknowledge the possibility that Trachsel will be back. Even Hendry can't be that dumb, even if he's under the influence of something.

I keep telling myself that as well, but this article has created irrational levels of fear about the 2008 season.

How can there be a trade market for a player who passed through waivers unclaimed? It's not like Trachs did anything for the Cubs that would make a GM regret not putting in a waiver claim. I'm inclined to believe Rosenthal is wrong.

Surely if I gave up 2 fringey prospects for 1 month of Steve Trachsel, I can 12 fringey prospects for a full year of him!

And that whole bit about Ramirez "not hustling" or being a "bad guy" is one of the biggest red herrings I've come across. Ramirez has played hurt much of the last couple years, and I don't recall him being photographed with any strippers.

I liked that. Looks like Bruce was as annoyed with Rozner's column as we were.

Thanks again!
