If you haven't seen "61" (playing on HBO free preview) the one sports writer said " There are 15 papers her and we all can't write the same crap"

He got a lot of us to read his terrible column.

And you wonder why in the offseason players flock out of here.

Who?

Someone had posted that as they were coming back from Arizona in the airport, they had heard that Ramierez and some others had already left on Sunday morning after the game 3 loss.

Pretty quick departure.

I don't hold it against any of em...but that post kind of opened my eyes.

Is he supposed to sit around Chicago and sulk for a couple days before going home? Baseball has a long season, and I'm sure that some of the players are anxious to get back to their families after the season is over.

I'm suprised that Rozner didn't hold his Sunday flight against him, too.

Exactly. If I was away from my son for that much time out of the year, you can bet your ass I would have been on a plane within hours of the game 3 loss.

You're right, but if I was a professional columnist I wouldn't want to have to resort to stupidity to garner interest. And I certainly wouldn't want to be known as a fool just to be able to say I sold papers.

I'm thinking of the show Around the Horn. I think I've watched about 30 seconds of that show.

But in the case of Rozner, his repeated shots at Ramirez do not seem to be anywhere close to him just looking for something else to write about. He makes it pretty clear he's disgusted by Aramis.

So I emailed Rozner this morning...

You're clueless. There are maybe 3 3rd basemen in baseball who would be an upgrade over Ramirez. Two of them are in NY. None of them figure to be available.

Good plan, let's get rid of one of the few producers on this team. It's not like the Cubs need offense or anything.

His well thought out reply...I love this argument, BTW, because it requires no factual support at all when it's used.

You might want to try watching the games next year.

At least, he replied. I'll give him that much.

I'd probably respond that maybe he should watch the games next year on something other than his imaginary TV.

Idiot. He shouldn't have a job.

I can understand pointing out flaws in a player's approach to the game, but he's so far beyond that in that he seems to be repeatedly saying that Aramis' performance is actually detrimental to the team. Insanity.

who would he rather have at 3rd base that's available to us?

Someone who's white, media friendly and looks like he tries hard all the time to the casual observer.

EDIT: Joe Crede would be perfect for Rozner.

Haha, he must be copying and pasting that response to everyone. I got the same exact response.

#3 in all of baseball in fielding %, #8 in range factor, #7 in zone rating. Seriously this is one of the worst articles written the whole year. Not even Skip Bayless would make up such crap.

I won't even touch the hitting.

Holy Crap!

His reply is more ridiculous than his column, as difficult as it is to accomplish such a feat.

I really wish Bruce would chime SOMETHING in on this thread...but we can't really expect him to comment on a colleague, I guess.

Unfortunately stupidity is not something new in using to sell papers.

I'll go ahead and touch on the hitting: #6 among all third basemen in HRs, #7 in RBI, #5 in OPS and all that with time missed on the DL. Barry Rozner has crap for brains.

Three words: No. Trade. Clause.

That sums up Ramirez's situation. The Cubs don't want to trade him. They haven't thought about trading him. He and his agent didn't bargain for a no-trade clause (complete through 2010 and partial through 2011) to be traded. It's simply not happening.

I'm not going to get into bashing somebody on my own paper.

My view toward Ramirez: Great player. The "hustle" thing is a complete red herring. His teammates like him.

Thanks Bruce. What do you see the Cubs doing from here?
