Oklahoma vs. Ohio State is my predicted NC Game

If LSU and OK win out I don't see how OK would be ranked higher.

This is the greatest college football season ever.

BC will lose a game I am pretty sure, as will O$U. I seriously have no clue. Still can't even predict what will come of the national championship, and I won't be surprised to see a couple of 1 loss teams ahead of South Florida when the polls come out this week.

Stupid parity, I hate it.....nobody wants to see South Florida in the national championship game. It's bad for college football due to lack or ratings for BCS games.

I do, plus I want to see the BCS shot to hell. South Florida in the NC would be great. I could really careless about what ratings the game gets because USC, ND, and others are not in a BCS game.

LSU had a letdown after last week, but I think UK outmuscled them. That was LSU's worst defensive game by far and UK's offense had something to with it. That block by Lyons was my fav. play of the game.

Yes today was a huge letdown, but I don't care how much of a "trap" game this was, LSU should not be outmuscled by UK. Obviously I'm not in the lockeroom with these guys, but the coaches have got to put a charge into the D and challenge them to come back from last week's game with the same kind of ferocity for this one. I'm sure it probably happend, but still you've got to sack up and get it done.

I wasn't able to watch the game in its' entirety (I might re-watch it for more analysis later), but these are some of the reasons for tonight's outcome (in no particular order):

1. QB play (missing targets) or lack thereof (Perilloux should have played more).

2. Dropped passes.

3. Stupid penalties.

4. Not enough blitzes.

5. Play calling, particularly on the last drive. See also Perilloux's lack of playing time.

6. Defense not sucking it up.

I hate the state of Iowa. Illinois gives the game away to Iowa earlier today and then SIU gives the game away to Northern Iowa later today. We nearly pulled out a miracle as we ran a lateral play from our own 40 and it ended all the way up at the UNI 4 as time expired, which would have given us the win. I hate that damn UNI-Dome.

Oh well. SIU should finish the regular season at 10-1 and Illinois should be able to bounce back against a Michigan team that is likely going to be without its best player. Still, screw you Iowa.

Step down from your high horse. Whether it's PSU, OSU, USC, Texas, UF, UNC, etc. there are problems. And they are just as serious as one institution as they are at any other.

It comes down to who can keep it mostly under wraps, and who can't.

Comparing the discipline problems at FSU to PSU is laughable at best.

You're right. Bowden has never had road rage and lashed out at citizens of Tallahassee.

-We botch the handoff. I have no words to describe that play. How can you screw up a handoff like that. Gah.

Miscommunication. Maclin thought it was a play fake, he ran several steps before he realized something went wrong. That makes it even worse, because if Maclin knows it's a handoff he A) Hangs on to the ball or B) Falls on it if it comes out. But yeah, frustrating all around. That Brown interception(the ensuing score put them up 5, btw) would've changed the game. Pig did not play well tonight.

The entire secondary looked truly awful.

Whatever though, just gotta stay focused and bounce back next week. We have a very realistic chance of this being our only loss and winning the North, just gotta regroup.

So can Indiana beat Penn State? I hope so. :?

If I've learned anything by now, it's that anyone in the Big Ten other than Minnesota can beat anyone else in the Big Ten other than OSU or Michigan, so you're in good shape.

I don't know if anyone else watched the KState/CU game, but there was one play where KSU's RB, James Johnson, just would not be stopped. He was breaking tackles, bulling through the secondary, and otherwise just killing the CU defense.

The announcer was getting all excited as the play developed, and toward the end, in a fever pitch, he yelled, "An unrelenting Johnson!"

I laughed.

so angry right now about the mizzou loss. so freaking angry. granted i was too drunk to even know what was going on in the second half, still very, very angry, UGH. stupid turnovers, dumb play calls, ahhhhhhhhh. very angry

I still think Mizzou is a good team. Hopefully they don't drop too far in the polls.

Auburn beat the Razorbacks 9-7 last night, and this sets up a game against LSU next weekend that will determine who takes control of the SEC West...LSU, Auburn, and Alabama all share a lead atop that SEC division presently.

Edit - Auburn's defense may be the most formidable that LSU will have seen this year.

I'm gonna be pissed when OSU is the #1 team. They've played NO ONE. NO ONE!!

I would put Oklahoma ahead of OSU. Heck, i'd put LSU there too.

The only reason that I wouldn't do that is that if you put OSU behind Oklahoma and LSU now, they wouldn't move ahead of them if everyone won out. Considering they have Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan left, if OSU wins out they deserve to be in the national title game over a 1 loss LSU or a 1 loss Oklahoma.

then jump them ahead if/when they beat a good team

Put USF at number 1. They've beaten Auburn on the road and West Virginia. They probably deserve it more so than any of those three unbeatens.

yeah, maybe, but again, do you think they could beat Oklahoma or LSU? It's a tough year to be a pollster. I'm still hoping KU, USF, OSU, etc. lose a game so it's a gigantic cluster-hump by year's end. too bad it won't result in a playoffs

That is not how the polls have ever worked. It has never been who do you think would beat who. Also if all 3 of those teams lose it wont be a cluster. It will be exactly who everyone thought at the beginning to the year. LSU, USC and Oklahoma if those teams win out.

If USC wins out, they're going to more than make up for the Stanford loss. They still have games at No. 7 Oregon, at No. 10 Cal and at No. 12 Arizona State. I don't think they will run the table because that is a tough road slate.

Andre Woodson is the best QB in college football bar none. In fact he is probably the best college QB since Carson Palmer.

Vince Young says hello. For proof:

2005 NC game vs USC: 30-40, 267 yards, 19 car. for 200 yards and 3 TD's.

2004 Rose Bowl vs. Mich: 16-28, 180 yards, 21 car. for 192 yards and 5 total TD's.

One of the biggest mental mistakes you'll see. Stunning.

No kidding. If Cal runs the table the rest of the way that play could cost them an NC shot. Unreal.

What exactly happened, for those of us not watching?

cal had the ball at the osu 15 with about 15 seconds left, and no timeouts left. The QB dropped back, looked around for a few seconds and the scrambled and was tackled in the middle of the field. Game over.

This one's on Tedford too. You have your backup QB in there with no timeouts and 15 seconds left. By running another play when you don't have to, you're just asking for something to go wrong and there are many more things that could go wrong than could go right - and that doesn't necessarily even have to do with a QB's decision making process. The QB could trip and fall and you're screwed. It's just not worth it to run another play there.

yay for ohio state being #1 (assuming)!

i sincerely doubt they'll be there at the end of the season though. they aren't the best team in college football.

I would like to nominate UC Davis for ass-kicking of the weekend. We got demolished at home by Cal Poly 63-28 and gave up 704 yards of offense. We couldn't stop their running game to save our lives.

As a side note, Cal Poly has a beast of a receiver, Ramses Barden, who is 6'6. He's now averaging 27.2 yards per catch this year and 154 yards per game. Stats: 34 catches, 924 yards, 11 TD's in six games. The Cal Poly QB's only have 1382 yards passing on the year - the run the triple option with which they racked up 453 yards rushing against us. All the quarterback does is basically throw the ball up in Barden's general direction and he goes up and gets it. I have no idea how he ended up at Cal Poly and not a DI-A school.
