I'm worried Kendall will start tonight.

I'm not. The D'backs are a team that steals bases, and Lou has shown that he likes to give Soto starts when there's a lefty on the mound.

I was so furious when I went to bed last night. To be honest, at this exact moment I don't give a flying soapdrop about this team. Give me till about noon or 1pm and I'll be back to my over-anxious self.

I had to meditate. First time I did it without anyone forcing me to.

It worked really well.

We're in big trouble if we don't win tonight.

I see this like the Florida series. We lost the first game "Oh, no biggie. We'll win tomorrow." We lost the second game "OMG DOOM AND GLOOM".... It'll be doom and gloom for our boys if we go home down 0-2.

Its not like Soto made a big (positive) difference in last night's game.

Well... he did have a key walk that moved a runner over to third for Theriot's IF RBI single. He was 0-1 in SB attempts, but who knows how many times the DBacks would have went for a SB with Kendall behind the plate.

You can say that for just about anyone the Cubs line-up yesterday.

Yes. I predict much profanity in this thread tonight.

I'm pretty sure that Kendall would have been just as patient in that situation. Also, the D-Backs rarely had the opportunity to run last night. The reason they weren't running wasn't because Soto was behind the plate instead of Kendall.

I don't think Kendall is a great catcher, but I'm not going to complain if he plays instead of Soto tonight.

Very true. Outside of DeRosa, the Cubs approaches were terrible.

I think you're mistaken if you think that the D'Backs won't try to run a lot more with Kendall behind the plate than with Soto. With Kendall back there, you're pretty much giving any runner with remotely good speed second base.

I'll never understand why some ballplayers are so obtuse that they don't adjust to the particular pitching style they are facing that day. Are they just not intelligent?

Last night was the night to start Kendall, not tonight.

They must not be. A normal person would think "Hrmm, every time I try to pull that outside pitch, I make an easy out. I should quit doing that."

A major leaguer thinks "Hrmmm.... I should just keep doing this. I'll be able to pull it eventually!"

Whatever happened to just hitting the ball hard and not trying to place it?

Soto's .286% caught stealing is not scaring any team into not running. If the D-Backs want to run they are going to run regardless of whether Mr. .286% or Mr. .088 % is behind the plate.

They probably think: if I let this guy pull me out of "my game", then I'll lose my lucky stance and be screwed up for weeks.

Well for one thing, I wouldn't look at Soto's percentage so much (sample size, for one), mainly because it's not about Soto so much as it is about the fact that Kendall = free base.

Has he even thrown a runner out with the Cubs?

Maybe....now stay with me here......being a good major league hitter......is really really hard.
