why are people pulling for Ronny "55 OPS+" Cedeno to get starts?

Because he hasn't been posting a 55 OPS+ in the past month, when he's been hitting better than Theriot.

his 24 PA's in September aren't a very useful sample size. you know better

Cedeno is now a marginally better option, given his success at Iowa and his better approach in his limited PA in September. Theriot's been brutal.

And seriously, he should have been pinch hit for both of the last two times he came up yesterday.

So you're saying you're happy with Theriot's production?

Theriot has been awful. He's basically an automatic out who hasn't been taking walks. His OPS outside of one really good month has been atrocious. I'd love to see Cedeno get a shot. At least he has a chance of producing something from the SS position.

Seriously, Theriot's been AWFUL.

No way in hell should he hitting in the 2-spot today.

Hey, Theriot hasn't been good lately, but, like it or not, he did something that the rest of our team didn't do last night--drive in a run. Oh, and he was in scoring position with 0 outs yesterday also. I don't think you can expect more out of Cedeno in a playoff game.

Oh, and Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez were brutal yesterday, so I would lay more of the blame on them rather than worrying about Theriot vs. Cedeno.

We're giving Theriot credit for Reynolds' 2-base throwing error now?

Just because the big 3 struggled doesn't mean they were the sole problem. One would assume they will improve (and if they don't, there is no viable replacement for them), Theriot hasn't show much signs of improvement since his hot month (and there is a viable replacement for him).

He got on because of a throwing error and bounced one over the 3rd baseman's head. Not exactly killing the ball.

I understand that people like him because he hustles and plays hard, but he's been hitting .188/.237/.247/.484 the past month. That's about as bad as it gets.

i'm not saying i like theriot, i'm just saying that you're arguing between an automatic out and an automatic out. Either should be batting 9th

Well, one has shown more ability of late and has a ceiling higher than major league utility guy.

The Yankees and Indians better start pitching lights out or I am going to have a conniption fit.

Just FYI, if this game runs long, our game will start on TNT.

TNT will carry the beginning of the game if the ALDS game goes over.

By the way, the roof will probably be closed as there are thunderstorms in the area.

what does that mean? does the ball fly farther or shorter with it closed?

i'm gonna guess it doesn't carry as well, but someone can correct me if i'm wrong

Ball carries more with the roof open since it is hot here. It won't carry much with it closed, so it helps Davis out since he's a flyball pitcher
