GO CUBS!!

Couple of interesting things in this article:

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070930cubsgamer,1,4930373.story?coll=cs-home-headlines

Piniella wouldn't reveal his 25-man roster but said he'd stick with Jacque Jones in center field against both left-handers and right-handers and would platoon Cliff Floyd and Matt Murton in right.

Piniella also said he'd bat shortstop Ryan Theriot second. He would not say which catcher, Geovany Soto or Jason Kendall, would get the bulk of the playing time. Piniella said it would depend on "the speed of the team" the Cubs play.

Are you serious? Theriot sucks at 2nd in the order

I have to wait until Wednesday for another Cobs game? This is bullcrap. I really hope Z has his head together and comes out dealing like he has the last two starts. Normally in high-intensity matchups, Z is pretty much the last person I wanna see pitching, but it doesn't really get much more high-intensity than it was for his last start at Wrigley, and he was flat out smokin.

Also, I honestly believe that if Z takes down Webb in game 1, the series is very likely ours.

Do you think this means Monroe won't be on the roster, or will he just be limited to PH duty? Also, has anyone heard anything about Daryle Ward? Wasn't he available to PH the last game against the Reds?

All but two ESPN guys predict us to win this series.

Crap. :(

that sucks. i prefer it when they all predict the other team (a la the NFC Championship last year)

Wait... They also picked the Indians over the Yankees 7-3!?

What the heck!?

Hey, Murton and Soto on the team for sure is nice to know at least.

So far we know:

1. Zambrano

2. Lilly

3. Hill

4. Dempster

5. Howry

6. Marmol

7. Wood

8. Eyre

9. Wuertz

10. Soriano

11. Lee

12. Ramirez

13. DeRosa

14. Theriot

15. Jones

16. Floyd

17. Murton

18. Kendall

19. Soto

20. Ward

Got to figure at least one more, if not two more pitchers (Marquis/Hart/Marshall), and at least one backup infielder (Fontenot/Cedeno), and another backup OF (Pie/Monroe/Fuld?)

Something to keep an eye on. Per Rotoworld:

Justin Upton may need X-rays of his left wrist which was hit by a 96 mph fastball on Sunday.

"Right now, we're just playing it by ear," Upton said, his wrist wrapped with ice. "Whatever happens, we'll talk some more tomorrow." Upton thinks he will be fine for the NLDS, but if he is unable to go the D-Backs will likely use Carlos Quentin to take his spot on the 25-man roster.

I think Pie gets the nod, if for nothing else than a late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner for the games floyd starts. Hart has been lights out and Lou seems to really like him so I'll bet he makes it. I'd probably like to see cedeno over fontenot, given then fact he can play both second or short. I'd really love to see Soto start game one, runs are going to be tough to come by off Webb and we could use all the power we can get.

GO CUBS!

Also,

Look for Soto to get the majority of the starts in the division series, since Arizona was fifth in the NL in stolen bases.

I think Marquis and Pie are in for sure. I still think Hart has the edge over Marshall (and Ohman). I hope Lou does the right thing and take Ronny. He's been out-hitting Fontenot (and Theriot, heh) in September and he gives the Cubs an actual backup SS. But Lou seems to have Fontenot much higher on the PH depth chart than I would, so I don't know.

I might be counting wrong but if you add Marquis and Pie, there are still only 22 players.

That would leave room for Hart, and Fontenot/Fuld/Monroe, and Cedeno
