I've gotten several phone calls this afternoon/evening. All my family and friends know to leave me tf alone once first pitch rolls around.

As for all this bullcrap about 89... [farley]Do you guys uhhh, remember that one time (gulp) in 2003? When the Cubs were playing the Braves? (gulp) and won that series?

That was awesome.[/farley]

I'm going to be very anxious with Carlos in the first inning. If he stays true to form, some of the veterans on the team need to make sure they do what they can to keep him in control so he doesn't try to throw the ball 200 mph past the first few hitters.

He absolutely has to reign in his adrenaline at least a little bit!!!

Hey hey - it's finally here.

Gotta love 34 pages of game thread, over an hour before the start.

Come on guys - start it off right tonight.

Good luck Cub Fans - enjoy the postseason. May it last a couple weeks.

The last game he pitched at Wrigley against Pittsburgh (when the Cubs won 8-0 and all the fans were doing the tomahawk chop) was his single most impressive first inning, probably of his career. I think he had more adrenaline pumping that day than any time in the last three months, so hopefully that's a sign of things to come and not just an anomoly.

does watching Beckett deal make anybody else want to punch stuff and/or cry

I just posted my hatred for him in the Sox-angels game thread. I like the Red Sox and would normally be rooting for them, but Beckett alone makes me want them to lose this game and series.

No because we will clobber him in the World Series. :D

68 minutes!!

I hope you're right - he's definitely got the talent to be just as dominant as Beckett has been tonight. I'll be thinking positive thoughts :)

Gameday has this lineup for the Cubs, a little different than the ones posted

Soriano

Jones

Lee

Ramirez

Floyd

DeRosa

Soto

Theriot

Z

I like this lineup better.

"Victory" by Bad Religion just came up on my playlist, and now I'm even more pumped for this game to start.

Yes, mainly because he laid a complete egg in my fantasy championship last week. Bastard won't show up when it counts for me this year but showed up in 2003.

is it the d'backs closer that dug himself a hole against us within the last month and got out of it and completely went nuts??

that guy was a tool...

I believe that you're right, that was Valverde.

No, it just makes my decision much harder whether or not to keep him or Bedard on my fantasy team next year.
