fully realizing that a better pitcher is a better pitcher and should be out there in a must win situation, I'm not too fond of starting Trachsel today. then again, look at the vs. lefty/vs. righty splits of the Marlins big 5

Ram 1.140/.885

Ugg .824/.803

Herm .781/.892

Cab 1.189/.912

Jac .833/.780

of course Miggy's numbers against Trachsel certainly changes that equation.

Olsen, a Cubs fan as a kid, has friends who still root for baseball's most hard-luck team. That won't change next week.

"They want me to lose," he said. "My friends would rather have me lose and have the Cubs win."

Sounds like the man needs new friends. Actually, sounds like he needs to take his friends' advice. Either way, he better pitch like crap today.

That's awesome. If I had friends in the majors not playing for the Cubs, I'd be the same way.

My God has Miggy destroyed Trax.

LOL, not that it's a suprise.

Oh yea, there's a 3-run Miggyjack waiting for Trax today, for absolute certain.

We simply can't beat this team. 9 losses in a row, dating back to last season. It's surreal.

What if we sabotage the Marlins team bus so they can't get to the stadium? Do you think they might forfeit? I think I can make a flight down there in time if I leave right now 8-)

I'll do a couple nights in jail to get this team a win against these clowns.

Okay, so I was thinking about it this morning and I really do think we're going to clinch this thing tomorrow in Cincy. I think (somehow, despite a Trachsel start) we win tonight, and the Brewers lose game 1 to the Padres.

Leaving the door wide open for a Division clincher tomorrow vs. the reds.

So; yeah. Plz?

Crazy stuff happens. Mets lose the almighty Nationals still makes me laugh... Ted Lilly loses, Marquis loses... And somehow Trachsel will get the win.

That's baseball for ya'.

The Nationals might not be world beaters, but to find the Marlins in the NL East Standings, they have to look down

could you imagine being in his position? if it were a meaningful game and I had a chance to win, of course I am going to go all out. but in a situation like this, how can he just let a lifetime of loyalty to this team go? I know I would not be able to, and might just ask to be seated so as to not cross the integrity of the game.

at which time I do a 180 and start rooting for the Brewers as I want no part of the Padres pitching staff in the playoffs.

I can't imagine asking to sit rather then bomb to the Cubs going over well in his clubhouse

It makes perfect sense for trachsel to get shelled and the cubs to lose for the 819th straight time to the stupid fish.

Therefore, trachsel will salvage whatever he has left in that worthless extremity he calls his right arm and the cubs win decidedly. 7-2.

We need a begging emote. You know, like a cute puppy with big, droopy eyes.

Please dear LORD Cubs start frakin winning.

why? the cubs have shown the ability to hit at least respectfully against talented pitchers. it's the joe blows that give them fits. i'd be worried about the phillies pitching staff.

Especially when the team already has a negative opinion of you over a few things you've done.

I think if my best friend was pitching for the Marlins today I'd call him up and in no uncertain terms tell him I'm rooting 100% against him.

I expect he'd understand. It's just sports after all.

I'd tell him i'm publishing embarassing pictures of him and his sister on the internetwebs if he beats the Cubs.
