Illinois has me all sorts of worried. this game reeks of "JoePa plays it safe and conservative and gets completely outcoached by a team that does something other than run up the middle and punt"

i sure hope not... if you're getting outcoached by ron zook, you really suck

This. JoePa certainly won't get outcoached, PSU could easily be outplayed.

Amazing how far we've come, only 3 point dogs against Penn St.

oh, he can be outcoached, at least from a gameplanning perspective. Paterno doesn't call many plays on game day (that's all done by the OC in the booth) but he can definitely steer the team in the wrong direction when devising a scheme for this game. Michigan has a weak secondary, and yet Paterno thought his team threw too much. this is what we deal with here.

A couple weeks after enrolling at NIU, Demetrius Jones plans on transferring to Cincinnati.

Congrats on not being able to land him, Novak and co. Really outdid yourselves this time.

Bielema also has a medical degree

Huh?

Ok or that Notre Dame football players are Real college students that are getting engineering degrees and such.

anybody that roots for a major college program and thinks that the athletes on the team are students of the same caliber as the average student at that school is kidding themself.

I've known dozens and dozens of athletes that have gone through the University of Iowa, and every last one of them earned a medical degree.

Even Pierre Pierce?

even Pierre Pierce

I don't know that I'd put much, if any, blame on the coaches for this. Jones just seems to have issues.

He's recruited by Charlie Weis, who everybody knows won't run an option-type offense (which is what Jones would excel in). So he gets mad when a very good prototypical (best for Weis' system) beats him out and leaves without telling anyone to go to NIU.

Now, for no real good reason, he's leaving NIU about two weeks later to go to Cincinnatti. Kid needs to make up his mind and stick to a decision. From what I know, I don't blame the coaches.

If your team is QBd by Anthony Morelli, odds are you're throwing too much.

Sutton won't be able to play this weekend, either, due to his high ankle sprain.

What a terrible years this is...

Kid would've broken every single-game yardage record on the books against Ball State's defense, so I shed no tears here.

He would've shredded MAC defenses and probably would've led NIU to a MAC title in 08. Unfortunately, this was just a fantasy. An extremely rude one at that.

Oh yeah, the loss definitely hurts.

I just don't think - because of the circumstances - the NIU coaching staff is to blame.

yeah i'm already pissed about 2008 and it's not even here. Clark is at least more mobile than Morelli (then again, the same could be said about a filing cabinet), but unlike Michael Robinson he's not a great athlete. It won't be quite as bad as Matt Senneca, who was one of the worst QBs I've ever seen. But Clark will be mediocre and we'll only get 2 years of Pat Devlin, a guy who could actually beat teams with a good defense.

Notre Dame will score 4 touchdowns on Saturday...unfortunately at least 2 of them will be against reserves

or Zach Mills blocking Michael Robinson for two years

oh gee west virginia run all over hapless opponents and then loses when they meet a team that has the athletes and run defense to hang with them? that's shocking and completely different from what they do in other years.

allow me Cuse...

Of course, in your book WVU is the best team in the BE and ND is still a major power. You're still living in the preseason.

I was extremely pleased to come home from celebrating last night to find I had the Big Ten Network (in HD). RCN Cable finally agreed.

My question is, how do I figure out what game I get? Aren't there a handful of Big Ten games on at 11:00?

You might check the listings for your cable company on tvguide.com or your onscreen program guide (if you have one). If not you may just need to turn on the game and see what one it is.

Good call, Big Ten Network's website has a map. Most get the U of I/Penn St. game:
