walking people in front of soriano?

Uh...okay. I understand it sets up the dp, but still.

Soriano has a much better chance at a crap ab then does Ward. Just goes to show how "respected" Soriano is in the league.

or how respected Ward is..that's the 7th intentional walk for Ward and he's only had 95 AB's this year.

Anyone care to say what exactly happened or do we just get reactions?

Theriot hit a gapper, Carlos Lee and his reputation for speed and defense filled the gap and made the diving catch and robbed at least one run. Even with Ward at first, it still could have been two.

that's an easy 2 runs if he doesn't catch it. the runners could have gone 3 bases each if they wanted to

Fuld pinch-ran for Ward. It would have been an easy 2 runs.

So Fuld is a fast runner?

IBBs in the NL don't mean as much - don't know how many times he had a much weaker hitter/the pitcher's spot behind him.

Yea but I think it says more about the person behind Ward in this case

I hope so. He's about 97 lbs soaking wet.

Yes, he's got good speed.

This will be the worst defeat of the season.

IF the Cubs lose, it won't even be in the top 5 worst defeats of the season.

You're right of course, but that doesn't make me any less pissed off about you saying it.

True, although I know 5 of them. 3 in front of Soriano, 1 in front of Theriot, 1 in front of Barrett. I'm not completely sure about the other two.

Based on the situation and time of year, I feel it will. But then again, any loss from this point forward might feel that way.

If you take the situation out of each game, I'll say that Dempster's implosion against the Mets is the worst defeat of the year for me.

As evidenced by tonight's IBB.

And Ward isn't the type of guy you'll see bat 8th, but still I think IBB/PA isn't a great way to determine a player's respect since there are so many variable s that go into getting an intentional pass (setting up DPs, lefty-righty matchups, etc.).
