Here's a thought, Z: Stop sucking each time out and start pitching like the ace you're paid to be. Then you'd get a standing ovation every time out. We fans tend to like players that step it up in the heat of the pennant race, not players that disappear at crunch time. We're funny that way.

I was one of them that gave him the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, we fans only think of ourselves. And we've been thinking of ourselves for 99 years. Fans have to go at least a full millenium to before they can be taken seriously. :roll:

Again, as a buddy of mine said to me today, its a shame he still acts this way. He has over 1000 IP in the major leagues and he still acts like an immature child at times.

 

You have to expect to hear some boos every now and then. So what, let them go in one ear and out the other. You know those same fans will be going wild for you the next time you go out and shut down an opponent.

 

Fans are fickle, realize that, and move on.

Agreed if he doesnt turn this around quickly, and the Cubs miss out on the playoffs, he will be the scapegoat.

What does that even mean? Maybe we're thinking about the fact that someone, who as of yet is unnamed is going to pay him 92 million dollars to do a job that hes doing horribly? I dont care if your a burger flipper at White Castl or an Attorney at a major firm, if you go a month performing like Carlos has, you wont keep your job for long.

When I first saw it today, I thought he was in a way apologizing. That nobody with the team coached him before the media got to him is startling. He could have very easily explained it away as how I and many others first perceived it.

 

Oh well. Fact is, he still has a turn in five days, and we still need him.

I expect in the next few days, you will see a more "repentant" Zambrano, and he will say that he really has been pitching bad, and the fans in Chicago are great.

I'd expect a Lou forced/written apology tomorrow before the game. Mentioning how he's disappointed in how he's pitched the last month, how he plans on turning things around and making the fans cheer for him.

 

And I absolutely can not believe that Piniella didn't talk to him after that and coach him on how to deal with the media after the game. Crazy.
