That was NOT a strike.

He missed the pitch he should have crushed. It was close enough with two strikes that you don't watch it go by.

I know nothing about baseball and stuff, but why are guys like Theriot and Fontenot constantly swinging for the fences??

Not that they don't have occasional pop, but its SOOO frustrating to see them take big upper-cut hacks and pop up weakly 66% of the time, at least.

Nobody in the major leagues "swings for the fences".

:-k

Hmmm... Barry Bonds, Adam Dunn, Prince Fielder, Howard of the Phillies... and that's just in the NL.

thin it was sarcasm guys

Not in the slightest. The idea that people who put effort into their swings(and look bad when they miss) are "swinging for the fences" shows a profound misunderstanding of how home runs happen.

I think you definitely should watch that go by, it was well off the plate.

That was a call that should have brought Lous ass out of the dugout, Jesus. You cannot let the ump continue to be this terrible without saying something. Horrible

That ump is ridiculous. He's been giving that pitch all night, and only the D-Backs seem to be hitting that spot. Davis has walked 80 guys in 150 innings and he was getting that freaking call all night. Led to 1 walk. And worse, he was giving him the high and inside pitch also.

This team shows little to no desire to want to win this stupid game or division.

Aw shucks, we don't want to win this too early. What fun would that be?

Even if the Cubs do make the playoffs, they won't go on to shock the world. They're going to get rolled like they did in '98.

That pitch wasnt even close, noway you can fault him for taking it. This strike zone is BS and how Lou can sit on his ass and not say something about it is beyond me.

Ward has to be hitting there, bad call or not.

They were ready to bring in a lefty if Ward were to PH, so its basically pick your poison

If Ward pinch-hits, they bring the left-hander out of the bullpen, which is just as bad as putting Monroe up there against a right-hander. Ward's spot is in the 9 spot next inning against Arizona's closer where they won't bring in a left-hander to face him.
