we meed to learn what opposing offenses learned against us--if you're facing a young, good pitcher, sometimes you just have to make him work--take as many pitches as you can, foul off as many pitches as you can, get pitch counts up there and then take him out in the latter innings. while we did finally get to him, he should have had more pitches when he went out.

Agreed. I don't know what happened to Lincecum between the 8th and 9th innings, but we're damn lucky we won this one.

Having said that....GO CUBBIES!!!

Who is up for joining me for the next game?

You're doing a fine job there !! Keep up the good work !!

Disagree. The key is my "good luck funny .gif of the day".

It's clearly why we won this game, given the pitching matchups.

But lets do both! :D

If Adam Dunn actually said the quote in your signature, he's my favorite player ever.

Check that, he already is.

Steve Kline didn't give up an earned run.

Wow so I turned this game off after the top of the 8th because every time I watched the Cubs hit in the game it was making me more and more agitated. When I got up, I didn't bother to check the score because I figured it was unlikely that we scored, and I didn't want to ruin my morning. On a whim, I decided to check the score, but the way I checked it was by reading the game thread from the point I left off at. What an exciting way to read an exciting finish. I guess the lesson is to never give up on the team again!

No. I think the real lesson is that you shouldn't watch the game because the team seems to do better when you're not watching. 8-)

Cheapest win of Eyre's career.

Actually, it wasn't. I'm pretty sure after Piggy's 1 pitch outing on Saturday Eyre said that he had an outing where he threw exactly 0 pitches. He came in, picked the guy off of second to end the inning, and then his team hit a home run to win the game the next inning.

Yeah, I think he said it was in college, so technically, that wasn't during his career. :D

I went to bed just as the 8th ended. I was able to keep opening my eyes for each pitch in the top of the 9th, until the Cubs actually took the lead. Then I decided not to fight the sleep and just watch the rest of the 9th on DVR this morning.

I went to bed in the 1st inning. Marquis looked clueless and I thought it would be a waste of time to watch these idiots. I woke up at around 2:00 to check the score, and I was stunned that we won!

How many hits/AB did the Cubs have with RISP last night? They weren't too far away from batting 1.000, were they?

I think they were 4 out of 5 with RISP last night.
