CMON!! Just 1 more strike!!!!!!

(or can it be called official, if doesn't let up anytime soon??)

Nope. Under the new rules, it's now suspended.

You sure about that?

With one more strike and then a delay would it be complete - i.e. if Duncan struck out to end the top of the eighth and then there was a delay, would the game still be suspended?

I thought that was only if the Cubs had just taken the lead in the past half inning?

A delay with a 1-2 count with two outs? Christ, just let the batter finish.

No kidding.

However, howry looked like he was having problems getting his hand dry.

Ah no!

Suspended game instead of called game now. ugh

Suspended? huh?

new MLB rule, implicated this season

I'm sure they'll finish this off tonight though.

I know about the new rule, but I'm not sure how it applies to this situation?

I thought the new rules only prevent the "revert to last completed inning" If the road team takes the lead or ties.

Not positive...but I think so. Let me check the rules again.

That's what I thought also.

does it have something to do with the fact that they had the tying run up?

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Although it makes sense that the game would be suspended in this situation as well. If I'm the Cardinals, and this game is delayed and then eventually called, I'd be pissed.

So if the Cubs were up 5-4 with 2 outs, no one on and an 0-2 count the game would be suspended? Doesn't sound right to me

I'm reading the rules, but still confused some. I think I might be wrong and that this might be a regulation game if the rains don't let up.

Still a bit unsure though.

Let me ask this then... if they were able to play just long enough to retire Duncan and the Cards for the 8th, and it started raining hard enough to pull the tarp out again... could the game be called without much of a hitch at that point??

I think MLB intentionally tries to word the rulebook as confusing as possible.

Yes. If the Cards had been retired, I know it could be called a completed game.

It would make sense, because STL has gotten the opportunity to bat more than the Cubs have thus far.
