...Tony LaRussa should get a special, one-time only "Manager of the Century" award. I mean, seriously, they have the worst starter's ERA in the National League and a pretty much terrible lineup and they will probably win the division.

If I ever have to hear any complaining from a Cards fan about "blah, blah, blah, this player died, so many injuries, blah, blah, blah," I might punch them in the face.

It must be nice to root for a team that has a permanent lucky horseshoe planted in their rear ends. Cub fans would seriously contemplate murdering someone for the run the Cards have had under TLR...

If they win it, it's at least as much because the Cubs & Brewers simply handed it to them as it is them winning anything.

I see no reason why they can't win this division. This 4 game series coming up has shades of 2003 five game series.

If the Cards win the division......I won't be surprised. It's expected. Cardinals have traditionally been a winning organization. They are the National League's version of the Yankees. They are usually in it each year come September. Cubs and the Brewers have no tradition of being winners. Have always been thought of losers. Cubs actually are the epitomy of losing.....having been the worst professional sports organization in the last 100 years. This long futility is what created their huge fan base, however. All those fans want to see the ultimate losing organization win 1 World Series. Each year, however, Cubs fail to do it. Looks like this year is just another year.

Every team gets hot at least once during the season. This is just the Cardinals turn to get hot. A month ago the Cubs were the team that was going to win the division because they were hot.

People need to quit worrying and wait till early september to start worrying. Anyone that is within 6 games at that time has a chance.

PYTHAGOREAN RECORD!!! PYTHAGOREAN RECORD!!! I'm not really sure why in the hell I wrote that, or what (if any) significance it has. It's just fun to shout. I think we'll all be much happier when we face the fact that the metaphysical world in which the Cubs dwell has no place for statistics and mathematics. Yes, Virginia there is a bit of sarcasm and frustration in this post.

no one is luckier this year than the D-Backs. they've been outscored 543-516 but are 15 over .500

That is amazing.

St. Louis sports radio needs to be collectively taken out back and shot. Terrible.

Well, it didn't work out too well when they tagged him the "young Koufax."

Funny thing is, the Cardinals "hot streak" is 7-7 in their last 14 games, and are just 10 days removed from a 5 game losing streak to the Pirates and Nationals. They have simply crept up on us due to the Cubs and Brewers being absolutely pathetic the last month or so.

Hilarious. We are so handing this damn thing away on a silver platter. I'm sure Brewer fans feel the same too.

Next year let's stay 8 1/2 back until mid August before starting our run, it'll work out better.

I hate the brewers, don't worry, I promise :)

but anyone else feeling a sad kinship with them the last few days? I'd much rather the crew win the division than the birds... and it seems like we're both giving it away to the worst possible option :(

oh well, still a month and a half.

I see a reason. They're a bad baseball team. In spite of our recent performance, we're still average at worst.

I'd say the Cubs are really bad at their worst, and really good at their best. But average overall. :D

Right now, the Cardinals should be considered the favorite to win the division.

This is bat guano crazy.

The Cardinals ARE NOT GOOD. In addition to not being good they are trailing 2 other teams in the division.
